The future of this mod

As I said on the forum I tried several approaches to make loops work on alternate filenames to avoid conflicts with the other installed mods you might have. But I have to do it the makeshift way and use the exact same filenames.

I tried to to parry the problem of non loopable files for the mod unless you have the exact same file/time length as the original, but to no avail. It's something that I am highly irritated about in the state of this game engine. You cannot build a proper bespoke independent soundmod only file that would work with scripts and a sound cache that regulates file sizes and loop points as you can do in full campaigns.

Tried a few methods to overcome this, didn't work;

So what I'm gonna do tomorrow is to try to approximate the loop length of original loops (like spitter goo, hunter incap, tank runs etc). And then I hope the mod will be at least a bit presentable.

UPDATE: I used time stretch and loop work arounds to try and glue the looped sounds together

As a musician I take great pride in doing stuff the most efficient and exact way, but if this engine isn't going to read my loop regions because a) a vpk soundcache of a soundmod only isn't read b) not the same wave file name and size, and c)), it doesn't read scripts and alt filenames for, ,there's not something I can do to make it better.

I tried.

Expect the next update to also include cp/playerdeath sounds for all other dlc campaigns. I missed to register the same wave for all possible campaign names.


I might include the original end credits for the l4d1 campaigns. I made a piece first that wasn't cleared by Darth Brush for the final cut. But as an easter egg this should be cool.

Because the filename for the classic campaigns title music is different, I can include this easter egg!

A few years later and I'm trying to make a "tenet trucks in place" tank music mod, but i'm kind of sad the engine still has the same limits. The easiest fix would be that the sound cache delivered with the vpk would just overwrite length and cue points (which are just sample loop points), in the files provided.

I had made such a great crossfade to make the music loop seamlesly but still you are limited to the exact sound length of the original file.

bummer. I hope source 2 will give your more frlexibility.
