Pitch Black Dungeon
Question on lore
Is there an encounter with a blonde haired cultist, or is it just lore text? Also, could this encounter have happened before I found it's respective journal page?

Well I won't spoil anything for you, unless of course you want it. There are 3 groups of lore pages.

There are standard ones, which won't have any major spoilers and often contain small storylines connected to the main one or just miscellaneous pages that fill in the world.

There are end-game ones that can only drop once you have collected all of the standard ones. This is a small group, but one that reveals the connection between PBD's story and the vanilla story.

Finally there are end-game quest lore. These are gotten from specific points in PBD's story and, if you beat the mod, are unmissable. These finalize PBD's specific storyline.

Any other questions, let me know! Hope you're enjoying the lore!

Yes, I was enjoying almost every part of the mod so far (beside the charming enemies, they make me fume from my mouth)
I think I will wait until I beat the darkest dungeon, or it's analogy, not to spoil the fun (but start looking more closely at cultists now). Now I only started going to lvl 3 quests, have traumas about a surprise combat in the ruins where the crusader got snatched, the plague doctor rank 1, vestal rank 2, leeper rank 3.
But because it seems you are answering questions, even to this date. I wanted to ask, is the swine prince antiquarian cheese intentional? I mean the pig is almost harmless if you just remove all the marks (the little one never stunned the antiquarian during the fight), or is this strategy not as effective higher.
Last question, is this mod more inclined toward dark runs? I didn't go dark in vanilla ever, but had to here because on week 10 I was broke. And they don't seem so terrible (also I was for the first 20-30 weeks too poor for torches), on the contrary, a good 2nd level party with a Jester got me 50k on a long weald run.

Ouch, sorry to hear you had some nasty runs. I get kinda sad watching some streamers/youtubers tossing the lore, so it's cool to know someone is reading it! XD

I would say the Anti is strong, but it definitely depends on initiative. IF the piglet gets some decent rolls he could mark/stun your Anti. It does get tougher after Apprentice though. I personally consider Apprentice a 'tutorial difficulty', whereas Vet+ is where the mod stops holding your hand.

I personally don't think PBD forces or encourages dark runs. You definitely can get more cash from fights that way, but there are stronger ways to make money. Minibosses and longer quests will guarantee a high profit margin, though this means more risk. Making the most of caustic solutions and daggers can also net you good cash for little investment, but it can take some time to learn combinations. Lore-keeping enemies drop pages that hint at more obscure curio interactions, in an immersive way.
