Frequently Asked Questions
Question 1: I am getting a version mismatch error when trying to use the mod in the multiplayer Convoy mode. How do I fix this?

Answer: This usually happens when Sound Fixes Pack has just been updated. While I endeavor to space out mod updates and update in off-peak hours, there may always be a handful of players getting this error when a mod update releases.

The Steam Client does not tend to send the update to everyone at the same time, hence you may encounter a player hosting a Convoy running the previous version of the mod. There are some methods that you can do to speed up the process of getting the update from Steam:

  • Verify integrity of the game files (works most of the time in getting the update).
  • Restart the Steam Client.
  • In the Steam update settings for your game, prioritize updates from Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
  • If the Convoy host is running an older version of the mod, get them to follow one or more of the above steps and create a new Convoy session.

If you manage a dedicated server and your players are getting this error, please remember that modded dedicated servers need at least some downtime to get a chance to update mods. Therefore 100% uptime cannot be guaranteed.

Alternatively, you can turn on 'mods_optioning' and let optional mods such as Sound Fixes Pack be enabled by the players themselves instead of as a mandatory mod in the server's load order. This way the server is not impacted by Sound Fixes Pack's updates.

Question 2: I cannot hear any sounds in the game. How do I fix this?

Answer: Try disabling any sound devices that are not being used in Settings > Sound on your computer.

In Windows, you can also disable unused sound devices from Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers.

Alternatively try restarting your computer.

Question 3: Music is playing that I can't turn off in the game Audio Settings. How do I turn it off?

Answer: You likely have something automatically playing in a tab in your Steam Overlay. You should navigate to it (default keybind is Shift+Tab while in-game) and turn off anything playing.

If you rarely use it, just disable Steam Overlay from your game properties within the Steam application.

Question 4: Does this mod affect Steam achievements?

Answer: The Sound Fixes Pack itself does not remove the ability to earn any of the Steam achievements.

Question 5: The wet tire sound persists in dry conditions after using a weather command or Photo Mode. How can I remove this sound?

Answer: It will cancel out automatically if it's not raining after you drive in any direction then come to a stop.

Question 6: I am unintentionally hearing CB radio chatter while in single-player. How do I turn it off?

Answer: You likely have activated the CB radio cop scouting feature by selecting "- CB radio cop scouting - Sound Fixes" for the voice navigation option in the Audio Settings. Clicking the Preview button or driving with that option selected will trigger it to be switched on.

To turn it off, choose a different voice navigation option or disable the voice navigation in the Audio Settings, then exit the game. After you run the game again, it will now be switched off.

If you don't exit the game but have a different voice navigation option selected, the feature will also eventually switch itself off anyway after some time.
