Idea for Scarce Resources 2
I really hope for an edited verison of this mod:

EARTH
Extremely Abundant Ore Patches: None
Common Ore Patches: Nickel, Cobalt
Uncommon Ore Patches: None
Rare Ore Patches: Iron (However will have massive patches, allowing major-scale operations be useful. Probably 1km x 1km under mountains and hills), Silicon (in 20m x 20m patches)
Ultra-Rare: None

MOON
Extremely Abundant Ore Patches: None
Common Ore Patches: None
Uncommon Ore Patches: Silicon, Platinum,
Rare Ore Patches: Uranium (in small patches), Gold (in 15 m x 15 m patches)
Ultra-Rare: None

Extremely Abundant Ore Patches: Magnesium (in about 3m x 3m patches)

This took me like 15 minutes to write so it definitely has some abuseable stuff. I just really want planets that you can set up a large-scale mining operations can have a need for fixed bases for processing instead of a ship just mining all the ore and walking away.

For Earth I'd say make it so that you can find trace ammounts of iron in the surface rocks. Like 1 in every 10 rocks is iron or sillicon.

Make a version for Better Stone mod. You can tweak how much of each mineral you can get out of the different rock types. You could make stuff rare by requiring a ton of the stone to get just alittle of the pure metal, etc. Also when Gen's Materials and gases or w/e the mod is called comes out, you could make a scarcity version for that.

Thank you for your suggestion. I looked into reducing the size of some of the ore patches, but it seems there is no modding option for that. I can select the start depth and vertical thickness of each ore field, but not the horizontal size. The only way to do small patches (that I know of) is to put the ore in surface rocks. Large patches can be done by increasing the vertical thickness.

For Earth there is the possiblity to differentiate surface rocks by three regions; Snow Area, Forest Area and Desert Area. This can also be done for Alien planet. Maybe this can be interesting to put some rare surface rocks in each area.

Maybe you could make a mod where it makes the resources the same as vanilla, but instead makes the resources exclusive to certain planets and simply increasing refinery yields.

Well that is basically what the mod already does. Earth for Magnesium, Mars for Platinum and Alien for Uranium, to give the players a reason to visit each planet. I wanted to make it so there is a path of progression. Get to orbit for silver (for medbays), get to the moon for gold (to build jump drive), then the other planets for uranium and platinum. I think some of the moons and surface rocks needs rebalancing though, I havn't tested enough yet to know for sure what changes are needed. I think the refinery yield fits best in a separate mod, so that server admins can pick and choose what features they want.

You could release a series of mods that simply change a few diameters (Silver 0.5x / Silver 1.5x / Silver 3x / Silver 5x / Silver 10x) and (Uranium 0.5x / 1.5x / ect ect ect).
Maybe other things like "Character Hydrogen / Oxygen Capacity".
It'd be simple (and also spamming the workshop unfortunately) and allow admins to mix and match them.

What I'd like is for tiny two sets, one with your proposed commonality and sizes, and another one with tiny (1 meter circle radius) patches of all the resources, all of them quite scarce, so you CAN still get every resource on a planet, but you'll have to spend a lot of time and effort looking for it.

Would be nice to this comment in the main page of the mod. Is not everybody that will realize it by just reading the list of resources.

Have about making it VARY scares... Like only 1 ot 2 pached of ore on the planet... then you are one of the locky ones if you found it
