Community Update
I'm an aspiring developer, trying to look for a way into modmaking, and I think I've found it in the form of updating and fixing older, abandoned mods to the best of my ability

To this end, I'd like to ask everybody to give me suggestions for what to look into, and i'll do my best to make it happen

I can't say with certainty that it will be finished soon, or even have that much new stuff for awhile, but it's better than letting mods that people love die out

Current progress: Compressed image files to save space, deleted redundant .pdn and thumbs.db files
Fixed issue with a certain chestplate having male and female sprites swapped

To-do: Fix spelling errors and redundant text
Gratuitous weapon fixes
Scan descriptions

When I made a patch for this, I corrected the recipe mistake with the tier 5 armor, created a new projectile to fix missing projectiles in the mod, nerfed OP prices, nerfed sell for gas, and split recipe for proteins so they don't go off the screen. That's just to name a few. There is something wrong with the codex for the mod (I think it has to do with a file naming convention that is weird). It's awesome you are doing this.

Do you have a raw copy of the mod you can send me? If not I know how to extract the pak, so it works either way
I'll make sure those fixes are in, because those are a pretty good thing to have
NihilRetnar 19 Jan, 2021 @ 7:22pm
It'd probably be easier to just extract it but I do have a raw copy: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s9ekd889w4iv6o6/draconis%20patch.zip?dl=0 It is in .patch format so if you needed to https://chbrown.github.io/rfc6902/ is helpful for applying it, though you'll need to run it through a way to remove comments for it to not error, https://jsonformatter.curiousconcept.com I use this random json formatter to omit comments and check syntax.

It also includes some other fixes/changes see https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2157121346 for fullish list.

Good, good, I might extract it like you said, soon as I can actually get the game working for me again :UltimateHorse:
I may need someone to help me with the sprites though, as I'm a bit bollocks with it, but we'll get there when we get there
NihilRetnar 19 Jan, 2021 @ 7:51pm
Same for sprites, my ability to do anything with graphics is near to none (well... poor), so I can't help with that.

Shame, but I can find somebody who's able to help
For now, the biggest thing I need help with is a direction to move in, with what people want to see changed and added
See if you can get others to help, if you know others invested in the Draconis

I'm in the process of merging the patch with the base mod itself, and a question popped into mind: what if we make the Synthesizer a valid side path to default progression? Tiers 1-6 with different strengths and weaknesses compared to the default progression for a different playstyle, maybe something more energy or health focused?

I would recommend uploading a patch and not hijacking the mod. Hijacking will probably be confusing, and will cause both incompatibility with the current version of the mod, but will maybe also be seen as stealing other's work. Good luck with the updates.

Which would mean I would more or less have to start over
Great
Whiffney Houston 19 Jan, 2021 @ 11:08pm
Maybe that's the smarter option, I genuinely can't tell right now
Having many troubles right now
Luma 20 Jan, 2021 @ 12:31am
I see. Good luck with the patch!

At least this is the simpler of the two mods I'm working on
The other requires lua scripting, among other things, while this is just fixes and redundancies, if i can still remove and compress extra files
NihilRetnar 20 Jan, 2021 @ 7:53am
Technically you can patch out everything in a patch, even luas though you have to just create a new lua and point to that one rather than change the old one.

As for what I would like to see, I would like more stuff for the draconis outpost. It feels like it had a purpose but is half finished. Did I say half, I mean like not really finished much at all.
