Prophesy of Pendor v3.9.5
Companions leaving
Anyone know how to tweak the simple_triggers.txt to stop companions from leaving in 3.9.2? It used to be that you could change a few lines and stop the leaving dialogue from ever triggering. They could still get mad and you'd get all the flavour dialogue, but they'd never leave.

I've tried the old, often-linked tweak from time ago, but it doesn't seem to work anymore...all the number strings in simple_triggers.txt are different now, and when I search for the particular number strings that need to be changed I can't find them anywhere in the text.

Anyone have any ideas? SOLVED: Make sure you are looking at the correct simple_triggers.txt in the correct folder. I was attempting to edit the simple_triggers.txt that was found in the base game folder, the one you want is in Modules/Prophesy of Pendor v3.8/simple_triggers.txt

you should find all the correct number strings in that file, there are instructions further down in this thread.

♥♥♥♥ my dudes I found the answer - I was looking at the WRONG simple_triggers.txt. So dumb - gotta make sure you're looking at the one in the PoP mod folder itself, and not the base game one that you're probably used to editing.

I'll list the steps below:

1) Open simple_triggers.txt (the one in the actual PoP folder!)
2) Find the piece of code "110 1 144115188075855884" (currently there is only one such combination of numbers in the entire file).
3) Add 31 2 1 0 (with the spaces) right before it.
4) Find the beginning of the line (which is also the beginning of this trigger), just head backwards following the digits until you hit the sequence 1.000000, that's where the line begins. A three digit number immediately follows it, it should be 101 or 102, it changes depending on your version. Whatever it is, increase that number by 1.
This should prevent companions from ever starting the "i'm leaving" conversation.

Going to test this now for the evening, going to announce if it worked for me or not back here.

Edit: Works pretty well, i am running around with 20 companions on a save that i had before i did the tweak, meaning it works on existing and old saves (had to go to the workshop folder not the regular modules forlder and then there's two sets that is called simple_triggers.txt, only one had that line of code)

Having 20 companions in the party is not a good idea as they will take a lot of after battle loot for themselves.
Better to get e.g. 10, train them, make them lords later on then get another 10 and repeat. (10 as an example, depends on likes/dislikes).

But if you dont tell them to equip any items you will still get the same loot if you have 20 or 10, right?

No. After the battle each companion takes his/her share first, before player. They stash items somewhere (NOT in their equipment) and then the rest of the loot appears on the player's loot screen.
I don't remember for sure, but common soldiers in player's army may take loot before player as well (but much smaller than companions). Don't quote me on this.
