The Ancient Empire
I've decided to share some more information about the new crisis event in Novio Magnum.

If you don't want any spoilers you should not continue reading this.

Activation
Some specific requirements need to be met before the crisis will occur:
  • Crisises need to be enabled when you started the game.
  • Any Vanilla crisis needs to be completed.
  • One of the players has researched one of the highest tier combat orientated technologies.

After these conditions are met there's a chance that the crisis will occur. This chance will increase towards the end of the game (based on the growth of the largest country).

Appearance
When the crisis starts the systems of the Ancient Empire will gradually appear during the following month to announce their existence to the rest of the galaxy. Each of these systems is heavily guarded and a powerhouse when it comes to resource and ship production. If you manage to capture one of these systems it will increase your chances to win the game considerably.

The Ancient Empire will also try to resume their command of all the Fallen Empires in the galaxy, immediately vassalizing them and allowing them to once again prosper and expand.

Apart from that the Ancient Empire is a normal country and has only one advantage: it has access to all technologies (including those of all mods) and will use them in their station and ship designs.

Shipset
The Ancient Empire ships look almost identical to the Fallen Empires ships. The only difference is that their sizes and component layouts match those of the normal countries and the fact that they have visible turrets.

This shipset is also available to choose when creating an empire. It will not be used by random countries.

Notes
Their solar systems have been hidden all over the galaxy and may appear anywhere, immediately taking over the systems nearby. How many appear depends on the size of the galaxy.

They are not inherently hostile and might even join a federation.

The best way to win the game might be ignoring them or racing them to the finish, instead of fighting them directly. After you've won the game you can always try to defeat them.

What makes this a crisis is the fact that they will dominate the galaxy from the moment they first appear. Their systems produce a lot of fleets and those are of the highest level as well. They will use these to take over the galaxy very quickly. Their Fallen Empire vassals will also support them with all their might and will be integrated after a while.
