[FSF] Simply Soil (Legacy Version)

Mod interference (and suggestions)
First off, I love this mod! It grants the simplicity that I want... but it is a little too easy in many ways.
I have been struggling for so long to find a 'fair' mod that allows soil to be moved around (IT'S DIRT! IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!) to under-roofed areas, onto stone etc.
The only reason this mod isn't the best thing ever is that every time I build something over the top of the (simple) soil, it pulls up the simple soil and then can't build what it had in mind haha!

I have very few suggestions and in fact, if anyone is willing, I would gladly pick this mod apart to write one that requires research for the enhanced soil, faff with placing on smoothed stone floors and rough stone floors and perhaps removing that swamp thing I saw mentioned...
Not that this mod is OP, just that I want my colonists to suffer more before they have their godly complex of safety haha!

[EDIT]
From what I can tell, the only problem I'm having is that whenever I try to do anything that requires a 'soil base' (EG, tilling, upgrading etc) it first removes the flooring which is the soil it needs to build on...
No idea if this helps :S[/edit]

I don't know if it's possible... but can this be used to 'replace' terrain? Like smoothing stone replaces the unsmoothed floor with smoothed floor?
I'm knee-deep in alien XML trying to find a way to make this work haha. Any help would be appreciated

First of all sorry I didn't see this sooner. It seems like steam doesn't notify you of threads made on your workshop mods forum. It's also not something I would ever think to check.

The reason they rip up the soil to try to do something else to it is because its layered like other floors. I did this intentionally so it doesn't replace the terrain and can be removed. If you want it to replace the terrain you need to remove the this tag from the xml files.

<layerable>true</layerable>

The mod is located under this directory.
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\925664789

For a long time I've considered making a more realistic version which requires compost or soil however there's already mods that do that and I'm content with my mod so I've never bothered.

There may be mods that bring in compost and the such... but Personally speaking, I find them overcomplicated and a little difficult to use.
Thank you for the directory! I spent an educational hour trawling through RimWorld's files trying to learn about it. I have to say, learning Javascript prepared me for the basics of XML!
I figured that layering tag was involved... but couldn't figure out much more than that. Knowing that, I think I'm going to start making my own mud-made-monster mwahahaaaa! But joking aside, I'm still finding your mod very useful

I would love to suggest other ways to utilise things in-game (maybe some kind or irrugation system to make a T3 soil?) but this is your mod and I'm not going to start jumping on your toes or making demands (Me want modder make mod my way! RAWR!).
Thank you for replying (don't worry about the time), thank you for the help with the XML (that really solves everything I could hope for) and thank you for this excelent mod!
Keep up the good work and I wish you all the best in the future

For future reference you can find the game id and workshop mod id by checking the url in your web browser. Rimworld is app 294100 on steam and my mod is 925664789 on the workshop. The ID numbers are used for the folder structure when putting workshop content on your computer. So for any game or mod you simply need to check the id in the url to know where to find it.

At this time I don't plan to do any changes to Simply Soil especially not adding any sort of T3 soil. Personally I find anything over the vanilla rich soil a bit absurd as the increased growth speed can really trivialize growing food. I believe Dubs Hygiene mod has irrigation if your interested in that sort of thing. It should be compatible with Simply Soil.
