Simple sidearms
"Hunter lacks ranged weapon"
So I have a colonist with 4 shooting and 11 melee. I obviously want them to prefer a melee fighting style. I have set them up to use melee weapons in the Sidearms gizmo thing.

This is all fine and works well. They can shoot at range when needed, but will still generally be a melee fighter.

However, this has a really annoying issue where the game will nag me about them lacking a ranged weapon if I set them to hunt. I can fix this by force-equipping their ranged weapon, however they will automatically switch back to their melee weapon as soon as they are next undrafted, meaning I need to constantly force them back to using their ranged weapon if I want to get rid of the annoying message.

Could you please add a special case where a melee-focused character who has the "Hunt" job set in the work tab will prefer to equip their ranged weapon always when working, rather than the best weapon of whichever fighting style they are normally told to use.

Bumping because this is still a problem. I find it terribly annoying and can't find a solution. I thought the setting in mod options named "Colonist default weapon mode" under misc. tab would fix it if I set it to Ranged, but it doesn't seem to actually force colonists to equip their ranged weapon.
