I agree with factions and tech diversity. They absolutely rock! having the choice between armor shred, high unarmored damage or infinite ammo is a great new taste. Especially the extra damage against unarmored which is something completely new. I never go into missions without my Disruptor Cannon + Alloy shotgun combo. One shreds all targets to make them soft while the trooper advances and has easy game.
Agree with sparks, there are few mission types they are useful for. They do have a purpose when you know that there will me heavy targets like the boss monsters against which they can deal tremendous amounts of damage, but useless for anything else.
