Strategy Guide
Enemy Guide
  • Mechs: Very high damage, stay in high cover and wait for them to come to you. A codebreaker with utility gremlin and xpad can get a 100% hack on most of them.

  • Codices: DO NOT SHOOT UNLESS THEY ARE DISORIENTED. Or frozen. Don't even overwatch. Codices' cloning ability is extremely powerful (they don't appear to split health like in vanilla), but they are otherwise weak. Sword's precise strikes help.

  • Advent: Prioritize the guys who can call reinforcements and order:attack/defend (frost bomb can stop them, flashbang cannot). Usually ignore the guys who raise the alarm (increases detection radius). Use the recommended F1 mod.

Recommended Perk Builds
  • Heavy: Blademaster + StrongBack. Cannon+Sword. Frontliners who can shred mechs, clear cover, and dash in for heavy reliable damage. Give them the best armor, especially if it increases mobility. Recommended later perks are the 2nd and 7th column for mobility and self-healing (multiplied by their high armor).

  • Gunslingers: Gunslinger + HuntersInstinct + LightningHands. Give appropriate ammo; combined with HuntersInstinct and three shots you can deal 20+ dmg in a normal turn at any range. Primary weapon should be anything situational. Semi-frontliners due to flanking emphasis, second in armor priority.

  • Watchers: Aim + DeepCover + (optional: + Deathwatch + CoolUnderPressure). Whenever they overwatch they get +30 aim, +40 defense (yes even if flanked), +60 dodge, +10 crit, and reaction fire. Medium-long range fighters, weapon very important, armor unimportant. Drone highly recommended.

General Tips
  • If you don't know what you're doing, put your squad's mobility at 8.

  • Avoid bringing more than one scout or their sight bonuses will overlap.

  • As a last resort, try Civilian Clothes Hunter. Enemies can only see him if they step right next to him.

  • Use advent equipment in the proving grounds; it's otherwise useless. This is only true for advent equipment, use everything else carefully.

  • Do the math. Blast padding is better than armored vests if you are poor, or if you expect to die in one hit, or if you expect to take armor-piercing damage (and not negative-piercing damage which does bonus dmg vs unarmored).
