Only reason i bother with the spiders is for their silk and when they veer too close to my colony. a single giant spider can do some damage to a neolithic colony that just landed, so clearing them out before they set up a den outside my doors is worth the risk of an early defeat.

They also make for decent raid thinners with their web traps. Problem there is domesticated spiders are currently somewhat buggy and more trouble than they are actually worth, at least giants and queens.

Nothing you said was even remotely related to anything in my post. You could copy and paste the first 3 sides of your local telephone book here and it would make as much sense.

I was agreeing with you, then said that spiders in general aren't worth even bothering with. Chitin is worthless and the risk of losing your hunter (and likely best warrior) early in the game makes hunting spiders more dangerous than it's worth, not to mention eating insect meat (Which spiders aren't insects, so why call it insect meat?.) gives you some stupid mood penalty.

You would literally be wasting valuable manpower even bothering with the spiders.

Even from a trade perspective the chitin just isn't worth the risk of crippling or outright destroying your raider defense.

Spiders are worthless in every capacity and i was agreeing with you in my first post.

Maybe when you can "Milk" them for their silk it would make more sense to mess with them, but as it stands you're better off leaving them alone. at the very least they might help take care of raiders or keep some of the nastier critters away from your colony.

to be fair spiders are a trapper race not a fighter race most games have large spiders have decent health but low armor so yeah spider chiten would not be that hard not like ant or beetles that are a more agressive race

@Umbra Animo Still doesn't change the fact that spider chitin is very weak, comparatively hard to get, the spider venom is dangerous, and it's overall a mostly useless item that's too much trouble to get to make it worth obtaining.
