Universe Generation Overhaul Reborn
This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

Universe Regeneration
So, you have a previously explored universe and you want this mod to overhaul even those worlds? Well, here's how to do just that, plus some additional considerations.

  1. Find Your Universe Folder
The easiest way to do this is to right-click on Starbound in your Steam library and select Properties>Local Files>Browse Local Files. Open the Storage folder, then the universe folder. This folder contains the states of the universe at large as well as any worlds you have beamed to.
  2. Create A Backup Folder
If something goes wrong, you may want to roll back. Create a new folder in the Universe folder and copy over all files found in the Universe folder.
  3. Delete MOST Of The Universe Folder
"universe.dat" is actually important to your game state, as it contains the universe flags that change the state of the Outpost unlocks, as well as links to your planet, teleporter, and flag bookmarks; keep it unless you like using /admin to restore universe flags and "/warp"ing to the Outpost. "<hash>.clientcontext" primarily contains the current position of your ship; deleting this file will cause your ship to seek a valid starter world on next load, but appears safe to delete otherwise. "tempworlds.index" appears to contain a list of temporary worlds, such as missions, for one reason or another; I have seen no ill effects for its deletion. Otherwise, delete ALL .world, .system, and .chunks files unless you want to keep specific worlds.
    • If there are worlds you want to keep, load your game and navigate to them. Then open the coordinates menu in the navigator and write down the coordinates for each world to be saved. When deleting files, keep .world and .system files that match the coordinates.
    • Alternately, you can land on a planet to be saved and type /whereami - this command does not need /admin to be used. This will output the coordinates as well as the planet number, allowing deletion of other planets in the same system if desired.
      • Example: You have a base on a planet in system coordinates 11111111:11111111. You land at your base, type /whereami, and get 11111111:11111111_3. When you delete your universe, you'll keep universe.dat, 11111111:11111111_3.planet and 11111111:11111111.system, but delete all other files, including other 11111111:11111111 files. Your base will be safe and everything else will regenerate.

Once done, the next time you load your planets will be regenerated with the new generation system!
