most if not all planets still tier locked to me!
idk if i didn't look right but every mutated or midnight planets still high tier even on gentle stars

is this compatible with Ancient Chaos by pixelfang it has black holes that are, i think, higher tier than 7

Wonderful mod. Quite impressive.
I've got some friends I play with, and they love some of the features such change in gravity, new and different weather, and different kinds of satellites (aka moons). I personally loved starting on a lush world that happened to be one of the two moons of a forest world.
Problem is, they preferred the regular tier system.
Is there a version of this mod that has all the new diversity mentioned above, but with the old tier system?
I checked out there, but maybe I'm blind or just am hitting the wrong tags.

Both for its simple yet adventurous nature that it can offer you, the varied planets can make unique and interesting options

Making some significant changes soon. 1.4.x introduced some new generation complications with the bounty missions that have made the use of "verysmall" impossible for any planet type that can generate dungeons. Will also be stepping away from decimal difficulty after some testing and moving to 2-7 range, among other changes. Changelog will naturally be updated when these changes roll out.

I have something to entertain you: I realized why I'm having this "bug" after couple of fresh reinstalls and realizing that I'm getting this on fresh unmodded game after using the insta-finish commands.

I'm seeing the initial position of the planets in the system. Since normally it takes a while before you see the solar system map, the planets are never aligned. But if you skip the mission and open the map right away, it's roughly in its initial position i.e. completely aligned. If you add the Universe Scanner, you can see other systems as well, which would normally take time to get to and thus settle into looking "normal", but with that mod, everything looks "odd" since it's how it starts up as.

So in the end, thanks again for giving me some ideas, but in the end, it was just me being derpy and not realizing that what I'm seeing is normal, but just something a player doesn't normally see.

That might be your best bet. Uninstalling mods without resetting your universe can have side effects, as the way Starbound operates calls to said mods (depending on what they altered) remain in your universe permanently (see my "uninstall safe" note on this mod page for an example). Sometimes, these effects are benign, but depending on how a former mod altered the game they can cause permanent damage. These are the risks we accept when we create and/or install mods on any game.

Thanks for testing it out and helping me out in a very friendly manner :-). I used to have tons of mods, but wanted to a proper purge before coming back to the game, so it sounds like it's something related to that. I guess I'll try to completely delete the game assets and then reinstall to see if I can get it working.

Just looked at Optional Story. It's not possible for it or UGOR to cause the issue you've described. It could be caused by a mod you've previously had installed, or even just a bug in the game engine. Starbound is not the most stable game in existence, as many of us have learned :happymeat:

Also, some advice. When you post links in Steam comments, avoid closing them in brackets or following them with punctuation. Steam is terrible at recognizing what is supposed to be in a URL; the one you posted is instantly blocked because Steam mistranslates it. Try a posting method like this:

@Azure, please ignore my comment, I wasn't able to delete it until you replied. Just came back to the game and it seems my game is doing weird stuff. What I mean is that the planets tend to get generated such that they're in single line from the star towards the outer ring, but I realized it's not this mod that is causing it, so it must be the "skip quests" for some odd reason. My apologies. I was down to two, and commented too fast.

It seems that the plants are generated in a straight line for me. I'm only using your mod and "Story optional" one (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=842256307) for testing, so any clue if you can replicate this?

Sorry, I meant "will cause issues when installed alongside this mod." Nothing has changed with Starbound or this mod, and the infinite seeking issue does not happen with this mod alone.

Haven't added new planets since last year. Everything went well then. Took a break from Starbound for few months,tried to play today and it started to crash like that.

If you have any mod that adds new planets or biomes, or change or lock the starting planet, they will cause issues.

No, it still works. However, if you do anything to change your universe seed, such as regenerating on a different operating system or with many additional mods after the fact, that will result in a new universe after deletion. This has been the case since beta and stands through to today.

One issue with the directions you gave for regenning a universe- it looks like deleting universe.chunks is all or nothing, the planets at any given coordinates change afterwards. I kept the .world/.system files for my favorite colony, but trying to teleport to it crashed the game. So that piece of advice might not work anymore?

Please, while your support is appreciated, such reports are not necessary.

While his attitude and and actions are less than appreciated, he is still within his right. He wants to make a mod that will break other mods due to his lack of knowledge or lack of willingness to use the .patch system? He wants to block those that try to help him and his mods become more compatible with the community as a whole? So be it. Those are his decisions. When people report having issues with mods and find that Geek's mods are blocking and breaking other mods due to replacing vanilla assets wholesale, you can guess which mods will be dropped.

Should I be contacted by Geek, or by a third party on his behalf, and interest is shown in correcting his mods, my offer still stands. I made that clear in a post on the Workshop Discussions forum. I would much rather have his mods play together with others than have people brandish pitchforks and torches.

No. But installing FU generally recommends a universe wipe even with a vanilla universe, though it's not required.

No difficulties are locked in any way with this mod. You have as much chance of finding random 6.9 planets as you do 2.0 and everything in between. And yes I recommend it, as it truly succeeds at bringing more variability to the universe. But also take a look at the alternate version listed im the description, in case you lile that feature set more.

New player, but survival gamer here. Would you recommend this to me? I really like the idea of a random generation for tiers, but I also dont want threat levels to be locked (to from what ive read, 6.9) or to get botched that it's too high as well.
