Mod Idea: Extended Reality Side Quest
I will write this as simple as possible and focus only on:

0.1: Basic Room Faction Prop Info,

0.2: Quest Givers who disappear after Quest is accepted (dialog revealing lore)

0.3: and significant unavoidable battles

0.4: with important consequences.

This may be best implemented as a Mapworks map that scales with New Game Plus Map Levels (thereby compatible with mods that increase NG+ Levels and stay multiplayer friendly by keeping actual player characters below level 101).

1.1: First room: Cold Forest Theme with Nether Thrall and Imperial Camp Props linking Commander Vale in an alternate past where she decided to keep watch over the Alchemist.

1:2: User finds and speaks to Estherian Ghost:

"You may embark on a strange journey where you may see the world that could have been, once was, and is no more.

We ancient Estherians from Grunnheim have dark secrets that have come to light.. yet they fled deep into the Nether where they grow in number... waiting... scheming... watching for any possible weakness in this world... it's only a matter of time before they break out of their lowly prison and flood out to find new bodies and fresh minds to feed and consume while they plot to conquer every authority and even reality itself.

We crafted great powers from these... abominations to the known world... so we fled the open lands and hid ourselves deep inside the ground under the cover of the wilds where no sane person would find us.

Yet the forbidden ones did find us... both from the world around and the unknown beyond... many things were shared for the greed that runs deep in the hearts of people- even those of us most reclusive considered the needs of our daily fuel... hiding from one society only exposed us to another... I suppose we who exist cannot escape from that which binds our nature.

So it was that Ordrak became forged... and the Guardians... and the spread of Ember... We perfected a game for us to try to read into our runes and outwit each other while the tribes of this world suffered and conquered while being our puppets... yet look at us... we have paid an ultimate price for selling the world... selling ourselves... now we are bound... into everlasting pain... the pain of those we made suffer."

1.3: Activates 3 Bosses when Accepted:
Infested Grand Regent, Thiss (Undead Dragon) and General Grell
Defeat to Proceed.

1:4: Boss Chest Appears, Sealed Path opens and User walks inside.

2.1: Second Room: Mushroom Cavern Theme with Dark Swamp and Dwarven Automata Props linking the Alchemist with the ancient deadly knowledge that should have remained secret.

2.2: User finds and speaks to Commander Vale:

"I've tried to reason with him for years now,
I've scoured the surrounding lands for a cure,
I've sent Vanquishers to the far reaches of the known world and have found not.

Every time I return... He slips farther and farther away from me... It's almost as if the Ember Blight has a mind of it's own... I'm gravely concerned his planned actions are going to kill many people.

I have pretended to listen to him and have gained his trust... A trust I must now break... My most loyal troops have secured what he craves... and I will not let him have it- No I must end his life once and for all... I must make cold the warmth of my heart and remind myself what happens to all who suffer the Blight and those who crave the Heart.

I have prepared my best warriors... Yet his time with Ember has made him very powerful... I will not feed my forces to his power if I can spare them... So I have chosen to delay what cannot wait... praying that someone strong enough would appear and... End him.

No matter how much I try to harden my heart... the warm family I grew up with has left their mark on me... I have seen great selfish people who kill without thought... I am not like them... I can never be like them... As long as my will is strong and my soul has control of me.

I am truly sorry to ask you of this but... can you please do me this favor? I understand if you reject this... I will do what I must against my better judgement."

2.3: Activates 3 Bosses when Accepted:
Dark Alchemist, War Titan and Cacklespit
Defeat to Proceed.

2.4: Boss Chest Appears, Sealed Path opens and User walks inside.

3.1: Third Room: Ezrohir Fortress Theme with Mana Vault and Slavers Camp Props linking the super powers of the known world in an unholy alliance against the entire world.

3.2: User finds and speaks to The Destroyer:

"They have turned on us... The Great Ember Empire of Mondon.

The Engineers and Embermages were the first to fall to their comforts along with some of the Berserkers and Outlanders who betrayed their own kind.

We always knew Red Haven would seek an excuse to send their great machines out to collect more Ember and drain our lands dry.

Commander Vale was correct... Ember does have a mind of it's own and it seeks to consume this world and all that is in it.

How are we supposed to defend the very thing trying to destroy us? It makes no sense.

Meanwhile the greed of nations and hatred of tribes runs as red as blood embers and the untainted remnant of us are left trying to salvage what remains of our world.

We should have prepared for this... long ago... when the Alchemist first saw his mad visions of how he would destroy our defenses and allow the Nether to infest our world.

Now that our best warriors, minds and regents have fallen to the Thrall... I'm afraid there's not much more we can do to stop those who buy immunity and side with the Netherim.

This may be the end for us all... we invaded the capital of Mondon with the strong brave few we had left in order to give Syl a chance to access the stolen Clockwork Core and turn back time itself which is the only weapon we still have that can change the future for the better.

...Here they come... I've given up all the life I had left... You must... save... us... ... ...all."

3.3: Activates 3 Bosses when Accepted:
Siege Guardian, Artificer and Ezrak Khan
Defeat to Proceed.

3.4: Boss Chest Appears, Sealed Path opens and User walks inside.

4.1: Final Room: Dragon Castle Theme with Nether World and Armored Undead Props linking the crimes of ancient greed struggling against the desire of a free and safer future.

4.2: User finds and speaks to Syl:

This is it... everything is about to rewind and the future will be given another chance.

I foresee my own demise at the hand of an addict of Ember... That's the one thing I wish I could change yet I sense that you will be the one to stop this clever madness somehow.

Vilderan is a rich land with a richer culture and it's neighbors have a grand history... yet it is the everyday person I care about most... it's the folk who will never have fame... never gain immense experience... never achieve heroic status... it's our job to give them a chance at life.

Even now we are being surrounded by unseen forces that would destroy us yet we defy them in an effort to continue life just as we have from the beginning... why should we lay down and allow them to bully us any further? Why let them steal our blessings and families?

So we fight because we must... it's more than survival... we share and thrive together... I may not live to see a better future with you yet I promise that I will be with you even after I'm gone... all of us will continue to cheer you on and make request towards your success... we won't just be watching... we will actively do what we can to establish your escape from these unworldly monsters.

Ugh... uhhh... hmphhh... No... this can't be happening! I'm losing my person... Is... Is this? Yes... it must be it... this is what our beloved Alchemist was suffering from towards the end of his days... I am so- so sorry I misjudged how hard he tried to defeat his mind bending illness... yet... I feel at peace... yes- I will resist these temptations for his sake- no matter how seductive they are... for even now I see the horrible consequences of my potential actions... I care too much about the people around me... even if they fail like he did... maybe a little more time will help them change for the better... I have to believe that... if only for those who will make my efforts worthwhile.

I feel my body fading... but it can't fade my soul... I made a promise to Commander Vale that I would strive on... I implore you to do the same... don't give up... remember... those... ...around... ... ... you.

4.3: Activates 3 Bosses when Accepted:
Vyrax (Dragon), Netherlord and Wraithlord
Defeat to Proceed.

4.4: Boss Chest Appears, Sealed Path opens and User can end the map.

@ "doudley": I realize that this idea would not fit in the "Arcane and Bestiary" mod yet I wrote this because it was simply too good and too intriguing of an alternative plot not to write.

Nevertheless I would be interested in taking a different version of these events that fits the actual game plot and somehow give more intrigue behind characters and the important connections between the Vanquishers lead by Commander Vale and her friend the Destroyer as well as explaining their serious concern about the Alchemist since he is still alive when this would be read by the User of this mod even in New Game Plus.

Also if "Torchlight Mobile" does have one important and reasonable contribution then it would be the concept that the "Clockwork Core" really is a "Clock" of "Time" and who is really connected to the "Working" of the "Core" of the world besides "Ordrak's Heart" replacing it in this game.

It may also explain how "New Game Plus" works not just as a game mechanic but as an actual revisit of the past that can't be changed yet new knowledge can be gathered for a future time and that is the truth of why the adventure seems to never end.

It may also be the reason why total strangers (foreign mod classes) are able to suddenly get caught up in this adventure.

Again this stuff is too good not to write (or rewrite and correct) and potentially fit into this mod if it is felt that it would extend the story and explain it in an admittly outsider yet respectful way of the facts we do know.
