Am also looking at DracoDrake's suggestions on civfanatics on how to bring an evolving, playable Dragon unit into the game. He has a ton of good ideas but many of which are difficult to implement, especially without using LUA - which I'm trying to avoid in order to keep the mod as compatible as possible with other mods.
Do you have any ideas what units I should work on next - how to expand the mod? I'd appreciate any thoughts or insights you have on what to do next. I don't have unlimited time, so I'd like to focus on what adds the most "fun" to the mod first.
With how you're organizing the discussions tabs here, I'm starting to think we can do all the collaboration needed here, no need to pop back over to civfanatics. I get soooooo much better feedback here!
I'm not familiar with making a mod, but I have a very light understanding of how it works, hence the blood fire tint suggestion.
If I didn't mention it before, I'm autistic. Just let me know what is possible, I can come up with ideas easily.
Dragon Rider:
Melee
+75% damage vs Cities, +25% damage vs ground units, -15% defense from ranged attacks, -50% defense vs Missile.
Liche:
Melee & Ranged
Des:
A Necromancer whom has become so powerful, upon death they have risen as an undead lord.
+2 range, -50% defense from all damage, Summons up to 3 skeleton squads, +25% Terrifying
Skeleton Squad:
Melee
+10% defense from all damage, +25% healing when adjacent to a friendly squad, +5% Terrifying, -15% attack damage
I could go on.
When I mentioned Druids earlier, it was more in the Diablo 2 version - kind of the "nice guy" version of the Necromancer who raises and uses groups of animals (vice undead) to do his bidding.
But with the Mystic Warrior and Necromancer classes, I already have 2 melee specialists. I'm looking for the DND type of specialty requirement that the Druids would fill. It's been, well, let's just say a looooooooong time since I played DND, so I really can't remember,
If we can come up with the "role" the Druid class will play, it will be easier to design the actual units in the class. I still want to stay with my current approach - 6 units in the class, with a new promotion series built around them.
Oh - BTW - a couple of off topic comments: Sorry to hear you're struggling. I have some similar challenges, so I can relate at least a bit. Hang in there! Also wanted to thank you for stepping in and help nudge/shove this project forward. It's been needing some leadership for a while... Also, if we're going to use this discussion for suggestions on what to do next or what to fix now, I'd prefer to keep it all in one thread, probably the Suggestions tab, as it's easier for me to keep things organized. And again - thanks for helping me keep organized and make some progress on this mod!
Any way I can help, If I can help, I do my best. If the mod looks good & needs a little TLC, why not? Your mod is good, & it deserves the extra attention. :)
Just remember that if you see another group struggling a bit, either help out or give me a tip.
Sent a friend request as well, that is completely optional.
