DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined

DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined

Stuttering in final version
Is it still present in the demo, like the stuttering when loading textures for the first time, or have they fixed it? Thanks!

Both the demo and the release play just fine for me. You might want to either lower your graphic settings or update your GPU drivers.
i've noticed the switch version has really bad stuttering and controller lag when running around towns and dungeons but i haven't noticed it on the pc version

I'm experiencing issues on my Xbox Ally X console at high settings. There's noticeable stuttering, but the FPS drops are more bothersome. At medium settings and with 17 watts of power, I get 115-120 FPS. I think this indicates that the game isn't stable at high settings.

I am also experiencing pretty severe frame stuttering. Enabling/disabling Vsync does not improve it (if anything, it might be worse with it enabled) Specs of my system below:

Linux Mint 22.3 (Zara)
32 GB Dual Channel DDR5 @ 5600 Mhz (Expo Timings)
AMD Radeon 9060 XT 16GB
AMD Ryzen 9800 X3D (No overclock)

Loving the game so far, otherwise! Thank you, devs. :)

If anyone experiencing issues and is interested, the FAQ here might help. If not, just contact Square Enix's tech support (link on same page): https://support.na.square-enix.com/main.php?id=19552

Good luck.
I had a strange stutter that was very rythmic and predictable, every 2 seconds, during movement. I even tried with keyboard thinking maybe its a controller bug but it happened that way too. Then I tried frame rate cap off in game, on in driver ...didn't fix it. All I had to do was restart my PC. I hadnt done that since installing it.

I'm still curious what it was and why it happened, but restarting PC was all I needed to do.

I can confirm there is no other kind of stutter in the game. If you have stutter, its not the game. Maybe you got a old 8gb gpu or something, thats on you.

I had some small but consistent stutter in demo but not in full game
using Performance preset in the graphics options helped me with stuttering so far.

I think it's a Linux/Proton thing. I've run into this with a few games recently. Sometimes using the Proton fork GE-Proton on your compatibility settings works, but it doesn't seem to be effective in this case.

I bench-marked the demo on both a linux and windows build, same machine, nvidia 3060. Still had stutters consistently every 20-30 seconds. Tried various settings, no go. Probably Denuvo stealing resources, frankly. Could also be UE5 problems.

I don't recall having this issue on my Xbox Ally X or on my gaming league PC. Try turning on FSR on the armory crate.

This is incorrect. The game has shader compilation stutters whenever a new animation happens.

There's a shader compilation step whenever you launch it, but it doesn't catch all shaders. It's not a massive deal, but you will see a tiny stutter every time a new ability or a new enemy appears on screen for the first time.

Yes, blame it on everything else except the fact that you are running with a freaking 3060... a 6 year old, low end graphics card.
