I actually do see a problem with this challenge.

What I learned from making portal maps, is that it is essential for a good map to make the player see at all times what their actions have as concequences, and if a map is big enough, it is going to be really hard solving the map if you have to travel too far for an action to have concequences where you can't see exactly what your actions do.

Knowing how this group likes to make the most insanely hard maps possible, I fear this is going to be abused into making really hard maps that are by far not fun to me to play, and possibly others as well.

An example of what could be really not fun:

You press a button and somewhere else, a cube falls in the goo. The button has no antline because it looks ugly and so you just can't figure out that it does that. After about 1 hour you finally guess this must be the cube dropper. You set a funnel to catch it, press the button to verify it and indeed, that button is for the cube. Now it seems you need to use the funnel and time it so that the cube lands on this island so you can grab it. You prepare the funnel, press the cube and then you have to figure out by trial and error when to shoot your portal so the funnel is gone and the cube is dropped on that island before it either falls in the goo or is being fizzled.

So I'd like to ask if you know a different theme for the competition, or if you really want this to at least alter it from "at least one significant" to "no more than one significant part", including that whatever happens is fully visually documented (eg. antlines) so you can just look at the puzzle and see what happens, even if you have to perform it off-site.

I'll wait with posting the actual topic before I get an answer, and if there is no answer, I might decide to not use this challenge or in altered form (depending on what the rest of the staff thinks of this.

Please note, this is not by any means me forcing you into anything and I don't want you to feel bad for suggesting this. I just foresee a possible problem that I'd rather deal with before it becomes one, than after. It would be a shame if the competition would draw to a halt as outcome of this particular subject.
