Competitions - My personal opinion
I've had a chat with Stagger Lee about updating your map during the competition, and it seemed we had different visions about what should be allowed and what not.

For me it is all about the fun. Making levels according to a theme, and playing other levels with a similar theme. So naturally, when your levels contain flaws or bugs one should be able to edit them to get a proper level. One should be able to get an impression of the level regarding those errors or not. Its about the fun.

Stagger Lee mentioned he feels it should not be allowed to edit levels during voting. If necessary, make someone test your level first and if deemed good, you can release it and only make small edits during the map submission stage. We discussed a bit, and we came to the following agreement: Levels should not be allowed to be altered when voting starts. But when the map is still in submission state, you should be able to edit the map to fix mistakes.

For that reason, I've edited the rules to reflect this decision.

As for using hammer, a mod or PeTI, this is very simple to me.

Everyone should be able to participate in whatever tool they feel works best. The competition rules state that the challenge for that week should be possible in just PeTI. But if you can do a good map in hammer within a week of time, then by all means do so. I want many people to participate. I want that more than to restrict what people can and cannot do.

That is aside of the problem that once you install a mod, uninstalling it for a competition is really hard.

Your third item about not voting for the 2nd contest... Well, there's not much I can do with that. We try to keep the weekly compo something that spans in a week. You can play most maps already during the first week/weekend, and I'm sure you can play the remaining maps in the evening. If it really does not work out for you, then thats kind of unfortunate.
