Here's my entry. I had an idea and the basic stayed the same, but the rest got changed quite a few times. I do like the result though. I hope you do too. :)

Changed the rules to mention that a submission for the competition must be a new map made from scratch. Just a new map can be anything. An old map changed and republished can be considered a new map too, and we don't want that. We want to stimulate creativity. Have a week to make something from scratch for this competition. Thats the idea.

The idea for this week is to do the following:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, would be to create a new map with no laser emitters. Pick only one element and stick with it.
For example, if you were to pick the tractor beam, use that only and have only one tractor beam in the map. The number of buttons, cubes and fizzlers is up to you, but don't go overboard with the cubes.

I've created a map with the idea to have a series of different puzzles all in the same big room which is divided into different sub rooms. Gradually you'll uncover how the room works and that knowledge will allow you to figure out how the cubes are linked to each other. At the end, you have the exit door. X)

Very good chamber, a little bit of thinking and everything connected to each other. It was clear what to do where to go, no hidden surprises.. so very good.

2. Stagger Lee
There were some very good puzzles in there. If it were not for the boring parts (hopping bridges?) this could have been first place. Especially enjoyed the laser puzzle.

3. Cyhborg
The idea of the puzzle is very good. The execution frustrated me however. It's the physics of the game (why should people keep hight when flinging but a cube diminish in hight?) what made it that way so I don't blame him (to much).

Cave Johnson has invited you to one of his offices. He recently installed a new security grid in the hall to the labs and he asked if you can test it.

"It should not be possible to break into my office, but if you do, steal something and present it to me to prove it." said Cave Johnson.

This basically means, get to the exit and you have proven that you can break into his office and steal something.

Let me first start by thanking each and everyone of you for your participation in this competition. The amount of maps have exceeded my wildest expectations, making it a lot more fun to do this.

The voting stage of the competition has started, and I've taken the liberty to be the first to give my votes. It was really hard because there are 12 whopping good entries. One was easy to be placed on the bottom, and that was my own, given I am not allowed to vote for myself. But still 11 other entries all made very well, has given me a hard time voting. There were 3 entries that did stood out of the rest I think.

So here are my votes.

1. Nintendo.erk (3pt)
A very good map using a unique concept, and the design is well made too. Clearly a lightbridge map too.
2. Rolandwood1024 (2pt)
Also a very good map using a different concept, with good design. It was hard choosing between this one and Nintendo.erk's map for me. Nintendo's map seemed slightly more polished, which is why it gave me a slightly better "wow" feeling. But a good 2nd this is nevertheless.
3. Bellirish (1pt)
A completely different map than the others, but its still a true lightbridge map. I like its sheer simplicity, and even the fact that this map forces you to use the lightbridge does not bother me at all. Nice comeback Bellirish :) Next time I might even vote you first, because making a map like this after quitting portal for such time is giving me hopes. :) (note: I did not factor in my voting that you have been absent. If the map was less good, I would not have voted you third)

The idea for this week is to do the following:
Create a map where the main focus is on lasers (the laser emitter and the catcher) but do not use laser relays (those small cone shaped thingies that light up when the laser goes through) Other elements are allowed, but make the focus of the map be the lasers.

It felt a bit weird at first since you can't leave the platform, and I had no idea what you could do. It all made sense when I just randonly fired at the portable surface.

As for the idea, I'd love to see 4 of these 4 square cubes in the sky that you walk under and operate. Each have some lasers and catchers and you somehow need them to interact to open doors, and maybe even somehow prevent one or more cubes to be rotated before one area has been accessed and a button has been pressed (or perhaps when you stand on a button one cube can be rotated)
