The definition of a puzzle is: presenting a problem which requires an action to allow a solution. When I write a puzzle, I do not mean create a portal2 chamber. And the one item thing makes it so it cannot be a portal-only (fling etc) kind of map. I thought that was going to be clear... My apologies.

I am not a game designer in the sense as you are, but fully understand what it means to make good game mechanic, so in that sense we can relate. With that in mind (and as a note to GBMusicMaster) skills say nothing when it goes to a competition.

I've helped out an indy games developer by the name Nifflas giving ideas and feedback and was able to help improve a game that was already great.

Current stage: The competition is over

The idea for this challenge is to do the following:
The next challenge is : "on your own".

Rules:
- You cannot use cubes, spheres or frankencubes (which is a cube anyway)
- And you cannot have timed connections either (such as pressing the pedestal button to have something on for a short time.)
- There must be at least one item that makes your map become a puzzle

To clarify, if a certain action requires timing, that is allowed (such as standing on a button to bring a piston down and then have the time for it to rise again), just not anything that gives you this ant-line clock thingy.

Ah, I got confused by the "On your own" which would indicate no companionship. But you are actually refering to, "no timed mechanisms"

The theme is fine by me. But what do you mean by timer? Or do you perhaps mean turret?

Almisuifre, we still haven't received an idea for the next competition yet. If you don't give us an idea before the end of the month, I will assume you can't come up with an idea and like us to present an idea instead.

Yeah, this is a known issue with PeTI. I have had it in the past too, and can't exxplain why it happens. There are "tricks" to update an existing map when it went into this state, but its hard and tricky as hell.

My recommendation is to get the map in the final state, and accept it for what it is and not update it anymore, use the hammer export facility and publish the map once more through the hammer publisher. This will create a new url, but any following updates will not.

I do not have the link to how you can update a map with the right name, but it does use the peti to hammer export function, then rename it to the correct .bsp name and upload that. I Think... :P
