Agony Unrated developer removes the game from peoples' libraries.
Greetings, just wanted to raise awareness on the situation concerning the game Agony Unrated.

Few days ago the developers have removed the game from libraries of everyone who got the game through any means other than buying it through Steam Store or receiving a review copy.
This includes everyone who bought the game in a bundle, original kickstarter backers as well as people who received the Unrated version from being original adopters of "Agony" before the Unrated version.

Developers have blocked all forms of communication with them, the phones do not work, they do not answer emails, they do not respond on Steam Forums.
As far as people can tell, this is a deliberate and malicious attempt at forcing everyone who got the Unrated version "for free" (I say in quotations because people still paid for it, be it through Kickstarter, Bundles or original release) to rebuy the game.

Furthermore Steam refuses to help, citing that since it was "technically" a "free" copy, developers are in their right to do so and Steam refuses to intervene, they would only intervene if the game was removed from people who directly bought it through Steam Store (and those people are currently unaffected).

More information about this on the game's Steam Forums:

It's worth noting that the developers were aware of the problem for a few days and refused to address it, in their statement they also claim this is Valve's fault while Valve claims this is developer's fault and right now both sides are just shifting blame.

We don't have Valve's statement that it wasn't their doing, we only have response from a few different support agents that know even less about this whole issue than we are...

Devs are in contact with their rep from Valve (who probably knows more about it, than regular support agent) and they are saying that they working on resolving this issue.

It could be because the unrated was given with the normal, in countries were the unrated is blocked. like germany.

The developer has released an official statement that they removed the game so that they can now sell it back to people "at a discount".
In other words, everyone who paid for the game had it removed from their library and the only way to get it back is to buy it.
Developer claims that there is no way for them to give it for free to owners of original, despite COUNTLESS OTHER GAMES in history of Steam having literally no issue whatsoever in giving free upgrades to existing owners.
