Wait, what just happened ? [Retired / Banned apps showed back in!]
So, I have ddl both “Covid-19 Snake: Cure Corona” and “Jewel Match: Attack of the Clones”, played less than 5 minutes (those were so bad), left a review and go on with my day.

Now, I look back at the store pages and the “games” are changed for “Lovely Warrior of Friendship” and “Hikaru's Imagination Rebellion / Sakurako in Nightmare School / and others”.

Downloaded the games again. “Jewel Match” is still here with “Lovely Warrior of Friendship”. “Covid-19 Snake” is bundled with the other banned games.

Why am I not surprised? :steamfacepalm:

I don't recall these getting banned, but wow... If anyone did buy these games they are now something totally different and free to play. Oh, there was that EULA they had to agree to, which in summary stated you agree with whatever the dev does so I guess there was some sort of warning.

They were pay-to-play before. I should have checked SteamDB from the start.

Now maybe I did use the wrong term since those games were “stopped” from being released on Steam before.

Sigh
Nonsense is back there too.
So if you want the full history and don't mind a SAN roll, here it is.

Hi Mia!

Thanks for making mention of this!

While Lovely Warriors of Friendship isn't a banned app, Valve did deny the game before release due to severe copyright infringement, so this doesn't make the practice any better.

I've made a Twitter chain tagging a couple Valve employees seeing if action can be done on this, and I will potentially make a post tomorrow (of course citing you for your discovery) talking about game swaps again, since they seem to still be ongoing.

Thanks so much!

No problems. :heartg:
I had a feeling the dev wouldn't let go.

Maybe this will result in a deserved ban after all. To add insult to injury, the dev is also releasing a game about breaking copyrights. "let's get rid of some of the mean copyrights, while playing a game that uses copyright evasion tactics at the same time!"

I sincerely hope this guy gets the mental help they need one day because what they're doing can only end badly for them. Because the phrase, "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" only goes so far until reality kicks the door down and drags you kicking and screaming back into the real world to face the real consequences for your real actions.

Also, because I was curious, I ventured in to the Community Hubs of both games to see if they made a topic in regards to this. Both replaced games have a locked topic from CLW themselves proclaiming, and I quote:

"Legality is not a guide to morality, all hail the resistance!"

So yeah. They're really poking the sleeping bear that is Valve with these actions and it's high time for the ban hammer to come down and come down hard.
tikiman572 11 Sep, 2020 @ 9:37pm
Whelp. CLW succeeded in rousing the sleeping bear that is Valve. And then learned why you don't friggin' rouse sleeping bears, as the ban hammer has come down and has come down hard.
