Game Theft Again (Bomberman)

I'm not entirely sure what this individual thinks they're trying to get away with posting the NES version of Bomberman on Steam. I mean, I know Bomberman isn't as mainstream as, say, Mario and the rest but they're still proper iconic enough that any gamer worth their salt can immediately recognize them.

I've already reported the game but I figure I'd signal boost this because, well, blatant game theft is blatant game theft and only serves to hurt Steam.

It's an asset flip of BoomMan[github.com]. Yeah, Bomberman is trademarked by Konami[tmsearch.uspto.gov]

I see. Now that you pointed that out, I do notice that the trailer itself IS Bomberman from NES but the still shots of the game are indicative of this pre-built asset. Not entirely sure why they didn't have shitty gameplay up of the asset flip instead of actually stealing footage from Bomberman on NES as asset flips, while scummy, aren't technically against Steam TOS. Stealing gameplay footage of one game and trying to pass it off as yours while selling something completely else, however?

Hoo boy. You better believe that's not kosher.

As has been pointed out by the folks on Discord, "Bomberman" has undergone quite a massive face-lift just recently. All of the screenshots are gone, alongside the trailer which was just footage from the actual NES version of Bomberman, and it has become Chinese-language only.

I can only imagine this was done due to some heat being sent their way though them still using the name of "Bomberman" alongside the asset pack of BoomMan effectively being a low effort version of Bomberman proper? It's odd that they just wouldn't rename it something that wouldn't blatantly keep them in the hot water they're trying to claw their way out of.

And now the game has been changed AGAIN to some generic fantasy hack and slash. The hell is going on here?

Title's been changed back to "Bomberman" from "BomSword." Gotta wonder if this dev is simply playing musical chairs at this point just waiting to sneak back the original asset flip or not.
