Absolutely! Whatever floats your boat on creating them is a valid solution.

And yes you are right about them being a separate addon is a bit much so I do agree that they should be in the SW Model Pack since that does simplify this process even more. Overall, this is very exciting news to see!

The prototypes may look funky (especially the cross 45) but I can assure you that the looks don't affect their performance. I made sure there were no extra rails sticking out that could cause interruptions.

After reporting an issue regarding the Cross track pieces causing problems to all SW Trains, I've come up with this (last resort so to say) idea that (from my perspective) shows very high potential of fixing these issues. This idea could also be used as a simple shortcut to avoid making any changes to the trains themselves.

What I've thought of is making custom made Cross track pieces that are specifically built for the SW Trains. These track pieces closely resemble the cross 90 and 45 pieces, with the only difference being that the gaps within them are slightly bigger, allowing the sliders on the trains to go through smoothly without issues.

I have built my own prototypes of these cross pieces using the track assembly tool. I've tested out almost every train on them and they seem to work quite well. Here a couple photos and test photos.

I am ecstatic that you understand the issue, thank you for the response! But I do understand that something like that won't be easy fixed. But I do have an idea that may have potential to work.

What if you were to swap out the current sliders with new ones that use a thinner flange but still containing that wiggle that you mentioned?

Now I have thought about this idea for a bit because sometimes if the hit-box of a prop is too thin, it can have high potential going through other props or even falling through the map. So when I say thinner flanges, I'm talking thin enough to stay on and fit through the Cross tracks but not too thin to go through other props whilst keeping that wiggle. If this idea unfortunately does not work, I'll be 100% understandable that this issue is beyond fixing.

As much as I'd love to show picture or video evidence of these issues, I sadly do not have that much experience on figuring out how to post pictures or videos I've recorded into discussions. This is something I'll learn more myself as time goes by.

This is an issue that I've been suffering from for a while. This issue has also been around before the SW Base addon was released and before the x64 Chromium Beta issue was discovered. Whenever I use any of the trains on either the Cross 90 and Cross 45 track pieces, a mixture of strange of behaviors start to happen with the trains. Some trains are affected by it mildly, whilst others are affected by it heavily. However, the Cross 90 and Cross 45 issues are vastly different from what I've discovered. I've put together a description below of what I've discovered.


Cross 90 piece issues:

The most common issue that the trains suffer from on the Cross 90 is that they get stuck on it all the time. Whether they're going fast or slow, the same outcome is going to happen. I know I did say that some are affected mildly or heavily, but every single train is affected heavily by the Cross 90, as they get stuck. What I believe is causing the issue is that the sliders flanges must be separated a bit too far from the rails and don't hug them all that snugly. This causes a bit of wiggle room for the sliders, and since the Cross 90 tracks don't make enough room for the sliders to go through is what must be causing them to get stuck.


Cross 45 piece issues:

Now these issues for the Cross 45 are somewhat hit or miss because they don't always happen. I have tested to see if the issues only happen at fast or slow speeds but just like the Cross 90, it doesn't matter. It just doesn't happen all the time and is mostly random. The most common issue is that when the trains make contact with the Cross 45, they act as if they have collisions disabled, even though they don't. The trains will fall through the Cross 45 tracks which can cause it to derail. Sometimes the trains will go over it smoothly and sometimes they'll fall through and derail. Like I said, it's mostly hit or miss. The Cross 45 does also have small signs of it sharing the same issues with the Cross 90, where the sliders flanges don't have enough room to fit through, but I can't seem to put my finger on why the trains fall through the Cross 45 most of the time.


Extra Info:

Not only are the Cross 90 and Cross 45 creating issues for all trains, but this also goes for the Cross 90 track piece in Ron's 2ft Track Pack. It shares the same exact issues as the vanilla Cross 90 but this time it only affects the ST-3 Tram (for obvious reasons). The ST-3 Tram's sliders flanges will also get stuck on the 2ft Cross 90 track pieces and the reason for it is the exact same as the vanilla Cross 90.


Temporary Fix:

Now although I've discovered a temporary fix for this issue, it is a rather tedious process to put together. I use a separate addon the changes the sizes of props. What I've done is change the width of the sliders so that they fit more snugly on the tracks. Doing this fixes the trains from getting stuck on the Cross 90 and fixes them from falling through the Cross 45. This temporary fix also works for the ST-3 Tram on the 2ft Cross 90. I say this is tedious because I would have to individually change the size of every slider on every car I have spawned in, and that can be a bit time consuming depending on the amount of cars I have spawned in. This temporary fix is also not very efficient since this prop re-sizer addon is of course a separate addon I use to get these issues to go away but personally, I don't like that. Plus, the sliders on every car do sometimes need to be different widths so that they fit through Cross track pieces smoothly, which can be pretty annoying and hard to remember sometimes.


Conclusion:

I do hope this issue does get looked into more deeply and I do hope other people and the devs are able to replicate this because if I'm the only one suffering from these issues, then that's my problem and i'll do my very best to figure out how to fix it.

I was thinking this could be a neat addition for the SW Train Cars addon. Rock Dumping Train Cars that are commonly seen on Rock Dumping Trains (hence the name) that can range in different colors and sizes. Built in pistons that lift up the body of the car on either side to unload.
