I have watched through 4 seasons now as one team repeatedly quits after the first big loss. One team repeatedly questions the validity of playing the game when they happen to lose. One team who immediately attempts to change the servre rules after a loss. Who repeatedly calls us cheaters using exploits when we fight, then turning around and proclaiming to the community that we are all friends and all equal. Friends don't accuse friends of cheating because they lost.
I too will be leaving the server. I fully place the blame with certain members of the server leadership who have created a toxic environment that has caused so many others to leave. The rest of the community I very much enjoy spending time with and playing games with. They have nothing to do with this decision, and have in fact made it a difficult one to make. But I would rather go to a server where the leadership has respect for its players.
Hope to hear from you guys again.
It was a real blast to finally join a faction not plagued with backstabbing, Team Killing and Unprofessional Shannagains. I hope to get the chance to join you guys on or accross yet another battlefield in another place if not here.
It is refreshing to play with gamers who just want to enjoy themselves and not act like a bunch of 12 year olds.
PS
If the complaints I made about the anvil played any part in this decision played any part in this I sincerely appologies and would like to reiterate that at the time of making those complaints I did not realise the near impossibility of attacking a base without something like that.
Take the previous season, a new player to the community like myself had an excellent document to read that set out the rules of building and activities in a clear and unambiguous way. It also set out the RoE. This document was not available at the beginning of the current season and that remains true at the time of writing. Perhaps now, especially in light of events, it should be published. In this way, players will be able to adjust their play style accordingly.
Spanj & Static, like others I am sorry that you both will not be participating further, but we will be here and striving to make this better for it is only possible to influence change and direction if one is engaged.
Looking forward to your next video.
Miss BOX
No one cheated, it was all well in the rules.
Game mechanics were exploited.
The Omega's lost the battle.
And new rules and guidelines are being voted on.
Had the Omega's exploited the game in the same way, the same actions would be happening in the community!
Anything beyond this is petty. To get all pissy and leave just shows just how little you think of us and our ability to resolve issues like this. Thanks in having such little faith in us. You all have been playing with us for a while, and I thought we were all friends. This isn't how friends treat friends. Yes, hard words were said and we got heated over a game, but at the end of the day it's just a stupid game, on a computer, made of things that don't exist in real life. What exists outside of the game, in real life, out here in the physical world, is us real people. To let somethis stupid come between real people is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, and trust me I've heard some really dumb things in my life.
I really admire you both, Spanj and Static, and that exists outside of 'stupid clones of Minecraft' (that was put in to piss off Wolf.......^_^). Spanj, you have inspired me in my video and livestream recording. Without you, I'd be really dull. Static, if it wasn't for you, I'd probably be in jail for punching a lawyer, instead we were able to work out an agreement and now me and the opposing lawyer chat about video games and Warhammer40K. My friendship with you guys extend well beyond the games, and that goes for everyone. I have stories for each and every person in the community that I've talked with. I know for a fact that for every story and personal experience I have, TheeWolf has a hundred more. Don't take what happens in a game so personally, and please have a little bit of faith in us when it involves having a fair and balanced server, no matter what game it is. If you feel you'll have more fun playing somewhere else, I can't help that and I wish you luck, but I would ask you to wait to see what comes from putting up to the community to vote on. We worked hard to get the server to you and we are still working hard in keeping the server running and balanced for everyone, not just our own gameplay.
There it is, no sugar coating, no beating around the bush. Just %100 pure, raw, Magic. Take or leave it. ^_^
Secondly it is completely unnacceptable that someone declairs it cheating when the the game allows it and there is no rule whatsoever banning it just because they because of it. If you want to make it a rule later down the line then that is your business and is fair enough but do not accuse people of cheating just because you loose because of something.
Thirdly the border between what is considered an exploit and what isn't is blurred and confused,e.g. I thought spanj's base attack CV was an exploit until I realised that it is the only practical way to defete a base - PS bases are super OP at the moment IMO - so the only real way to tell what is legal and what is not is the rules and the rules clearly did not forbid this.
Also if you are classifying anything which gives someone an unfiar advangtage an exploit then the oden must itself be considered an exploit as it creates so much lag that it makes it extremely difficult to effectively use SV's against it which I cannot believe was not motivated by the fact that the alpha's use farm more SV's than the omega's
I am also sad to announce that I will be leaving the server, whilst the hostility after this battle did sour my opinion, The main things which preempted this were the loss of spanj, fishy, luscifer, static and rustimus who are the main reasons that I had enjoyed the server and my disapointment at the combat as both the base attack and the existance of the oden have showed me that all combat happens at ridiculously low fps and is completely unbalenced which I just do not enjoy. Also I have found that there are too many and too frequent of these types of argument
Best of luck to all and hope you continue to enjoy the server
We aren't fans of "the long game" where you chip away at a base over several weeks. We prefer fast & fun PvP action and were really put off by an HV with 108 turrets spawned by the server owners that hit us with a frame rate of 3fps. I know you said you'd address it, but nothing happened that weekend, no posts went up and we felt it needed immediate attention.
In addition, we did attempt to take on your base in HVs to see what damage we could do. The sheer number of towers caused the game to lag and I started getting "Internal Errors" and eventually got booted from the game.
If warfare needed to be larger in order to beat these defences then it would only have got worse. We decided that the reality of Empyrion PvP is that it can only really be achieved on a small scale, and for that reason we don't see any point in investing large amounts of time in a final battle that is likely to be a crashing lag-fest.
Best of luck though guys. Just wanted to ensure there was no implied or suspected influence on our decision.
I too will give you no sugar coating and no beating around the bush, since I respect your directness.
I have to say something right off the bat. I don't hate you or anyone else or think that you are bad people. I absolutely regret NOT saying that in my first post. I should have made that absolutely clear, and for not doing so, I apologize.
That being said, I stand by everything else I said. The reason it sounded so vitriolic is because these are feelings that have been slowly building for a long time. The server is great. You guys put a ton of work into it each season. That is absolutely clear. However, through 4 "seasons" (im including the first big test pre alpha-8 as a season because it lasted a long time) i have noticed a tendency to either quit, or accuse the other team of cheating. It pretty much has always been us. I cannot remember an attack by my own faction that wasn't met with the majority of a faction quitting the server, or someone complaining that we had cheated. The situation with the Odin just made it all come to a head, and I couldn't take it anymore.
And I do remember that I called you liars. I stand by that. It was a harsh word to use, and perhaps not the most accurate for what I was referring to, but I stand by it to the extent that I was referring specifically to how you guys portrayed the issue on your livestream (I also recognize that, that was unclear). Obviously you are free to do what you want on your stream. I am not the Twitch police and I do not intend to be. But one person in particular left the channel to berate us for what he called "cheating," and told us to go away and stop, ya know, pvp'ing. He then popped back into the stream making false claims about what we had said (perhaps because, my response to his accusation was not Twitch friendly). The story became that we had already lost and were just spawing to waste ammo. Despite the fact that I was still flying around fighting 3 different targets.
But if you want to talk specifics of the battle: yes, the faust was up and fighting. I went to rearm it twice, because the Odin was lagging the server quite hard, and it was very difficult to account for lag jumps with my shots. Spanj respawned to get his backpack and place C4 on the Odin - as was our plan B (Plan A - kill with Faust. Plan B - kill from underneath with C4). It would not be called an exploit if the tank had simlpy driven away, because there would have been no way to plant the C4, and that plan would have been abandoned - and we would have more than likely completely lost. But in the drivers rage, he stopped moving the tank to scream cheating and foul play, and in that time, C4 was planted on the core. Serves you right in my opinion.
But reasonable minds can disagree about a game exploit I think. I'm not here to argue that point. Because the reason for me leaving has been building up for a long time. It is not married to this one issue. Back in season 6, I was attacked solo (because the rest of the faction had quit already) by 6 pirates when I was an MP. 4 tanks and 2 fighters vs myself and a crate of flak turrets. I did the best I could. I was obviously and inevitably killed. I respawned in my CV (which, as it happens, I had just loaded with all the base gold and supplies), jumped in the cockpit, and escaped the fight (what any sane person would call "making the smart move" I believe). I didn't even know anyone on the server at that point. I knew spanj and wolf from their videos. Thats it. But I wouldn't say I was friendly with anyone yet. I did not view this as cheating or an exploit, or a personal attack. I did not rage and quit. I didn't yell at anyone, or try to make new rules. 6v1 is not really fair, sure, maybe ill give you that, but its a risk that comes with playing solo. A risk that I accepted.
I did what I could, and that was it. But I didn't quit the game. I rebuilt my fighters and built a massive fort to defend the home system (all of these things are documented through videos from spanj, chief, and wolf - Check em out!). However, not everyone shares that tenacity. I don't necessarily blame them - losing everything sucks! But that has been a consistent issue with our pvp servers, which is why I am looking to change things up. I do not hate or even dislike anyone in this community. If I did, I wouldn't still be a member. I fully intend to carry on a friendship with EVERYONE on here. I am just looking for a different pvp experience.
I do hope we continue to play games and enjoy them. You are all great people, and I do not feel otherwise about anyone in here. But thats my piece.
