Why not upload the screenshots as Steam screenshots?

Through vigorous testing and finally having someone discuss it with the creator, I am warning the community that the FFVI_Explorer Tool is now somewhat BROKEN!

The last FFVI update has rendered a portion of its functions as non-working. Those non-working functions include the ability to make a manual or automatic patch, fep or exe, for others to use. What this means is that you cannot save a fep or exe to give to someone else, as it will just crash the game.

You can still use the Tool to patch a game techincally by creating the patch and then immediately applying it from within the Tool. You can also still use the tool to extract the obb, go to modding mode (which allows a third way to mod your game by emptying your main.obb into your obb folder) and of course the compression tab still works.

The creator of the tool has been notified of this and said this:

There's a chance I might revisit it now that I know there's a problem, but my mind is currently occupied with another project, so it won't be right away.

So, for now, if you happen to have a non-updated FFVI the tool should work. However, that's unlikely, so if you want to mod your game, use the modding mode and then replace the files in your obb file (which is located inside of your FFVI install directory).

Okay, so this is the problem. Exes will not work period, and manuals will ONLY work if you create one new and apply it immediately from within the tool on a fresh main.obb. If you save the path, as either fep or exe, close to run the exe or reopen to use the fep, it will not work. It will immediately crash the game for you.

I'm guess there is a problem with the Explorer too.

So does that mean we need the source .gz files and have to input them one at a time to compile our own patch, which we don't save as a patch and immediately apply it to the game or does it mean that we can use the files from the fep, extract them to create our patch from the file, which again isn't used as a patch but an immediate application?

Nope. I just made an edit to that post.

Basically, you just need to download cvg's obb file and place it in yours located at Steam's directory. You might have to first empty your main.obb with the tool though, but don't worry, there is a way still that is WAY easier than manually dragging and dropping xD

Okay, after various testing, my only conclusion is that the version of the tool last release is broken. You can ONLY apply patches, manually, while FIRST creating them in the patcher/tool. If you try to save as either fep or exe and then reopen the fep or close and try to launch the .exe, it will NOT work.

I can get the gz files to work manually while first creating them. So...that's it. I really believe the tool is broken. -sigh-

There are other ways to mod though guys, so don't worry. You can extract your obb and it'll dump all obb resources into your obb folder in the Steam install directory and then download cvg's sprites and paste into the folder, overwriting what needs to be, and then play. Your main.obb MUST be emptied for this method to work, though.

Hopefully someone can come along and point out that it isn't the tool, but at this point, I find it unlikely...
