A question..
Hey there!

I stumbled upon the group and I'm positively suprised how many kind people found together, discussing with each other, and being nice to each other.

That's why i want to take the chance to ask about how you achieve that.

Having a borderline, because of parental violence and partly growing up in a protectory (i believe its called like that in english) and hospital. It's sometimes hard for me to stay kind, sometimes it almost "hurts". I'm done with the past, i'm not "suffering" too much from my state, live together with my girlfriend and have a (very) small group of friends.

The last time i went to hospital, i promised myself to never lie about anything again, i don't want to hide myself or suffer from others without resisting it. I would say im mostly kind but the thing is: 95% of the time i hate myself for being nice to strangers and smiling, i can't describe it myself, it just feels wrong. I often help people (almost can't say no) but only very rarely it feels "good". Don't get me wrong I don't want to help to feel good for myself, but i don't think it's supposed to feel... bad / awkward / depressing.

I'm 25 right now and well, im disappointed in humanity i guess. Europe is becoming a cesspool of racists. One of the US President Canditates is a , pardon me, rascist ape that should be looked at as a bad example and not as an idol. There are still people in the world who fight religous wars in 2016. There are even way too much people that still believe the global warming isn't real. How do you stay calm and kind to humans with that in mind? It just makes me angry. Sure not everyone is to blame for all that, but there are racists, rapists, drug dealers, murderer etc in the world.
Here in germany racism becomes a real issue again. And i can't understand how people, especially in germany , and with our past, be so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (pardon) stupid. Just typing about it makes me rage and wanting to punch a wall. They even think they are right with their "portect our race" and "germans are better people then non-germans".

Bearing that all in mind, how to you stay kind when talking to people in everyday life? Because i really want to, I know how great it feels to have supportive and kind people around you, and always looked up to them.Like: I know it's ridiculous stupid to be mean to strangers, as you don't know them to begin with, but it#s hard for me to do.

Any advise would be a lot to me.

Uff, thats hard to answer..
I for myself am hating humanity but.. BUUUT some of us are worth all the effort.. so do I think ó.o

German PPS: ich glaub ich könnt mich in deutsch etwas besser ausdrücken will das aber hier nicht zum thema machen, wenn du magst, add mich und wir schreiben mal (:
Yeah, you're right, some of them are worth the effort, but its hard to face the " wall of stupitidy " around the rest. Guess some of them are "learn-resistant".

Being kind for me is being judging. And I don't mean judging in any bad or racist way. When I come to contact with people for the first time, I have to judge them both physically and mentally, to see if they're worth keeping as friends, worth caring about and therefore worth being kind to.

I see you take ease in describing humanity as a whole. I, myself, can't say that I'm disappointed at humanity, because it is a big mass and in every big mass there's the positive and the negative. You can't be disappointed at the humanity as a whole, but at the racists. There are open-minded folks like you that feel the presence of stupidity in present-day humanity and they themselves, like you, are part of humanity.

There are many people that try to be kind to everyone, which is a good act, but in my opinion, it is very fragile. What I mean by fragile is that you can't be kind to everyone and you can't be kind forever. If you give kindness and love, you expect to receive some back. All humans differ and there's a reason conflicts exist. I believe that if you keep in mind that you can't befriend everyone or be kind to everyone, you're in a good path.

Right now, for you to realise the stupidity of others, it's a very advantageous position to be in. You certainly wouldn't want to be Donald Trump now, would you? But, I digress. Being kind is easy once you've set yourself to that path, once your feelings are clear and there's nothing to stop you or making you doubt others. Be selective and choose the ones that deserve your kindness.

Thank you for your time reading this.
First of all I have to thank YOU for answering!

Mh , i think you are right, maybe i went to extreme. But at moment, it sometimes feels like racism is accepted and every "average" person supports it. I'll guess I will follow my promise more strict. Be kind but more importantly honest. And ignore people that aren't worth it or my time.
It's kinda disgusting that "goodguy" has become an insult. We live in a world were you can discuss everything with almost everyone around the world. You could literally talk with an japanese businessman, a russian politician and an american farmer about tea flavors, if you want too. That's such a great achievement in helping finding, learn and educating yourself. Why ruin all that.
Let's hope that the kind and open-minded outlast this stupidity. After all they already did once, through pretty dark times.

Ah, I will have to thank you again, because it's been a long time since I ever had such a discussion.

I do hope so, to be honest. But, I will also take this as a chance to explain a bit of the philosophy I apply in life. I believe that racists are helpful in the society, and I don't mean I support racists nor do I defend them with this. All bad guys take a part in a story, whether that is a book, movie or even life itself. The bad guys in a story are the main obstacle, but after you defeat them, you are taught a moral. As racists will increase in numbers, which they currently seem to do, there will be more negative response to them.

In time, there will be a movement formed against racists that will bring hope and excitement back to everyone. I'll take an example from the European history, and that is Adolf Hitler. It took World War II for people to realise that nazism is bad. After the war, it is when people realised how bad it was and created all sorts of movements to go against nazism, to support peace and to prevent wars. In the end, nazism didn't appear again until recently.

Racists play their role, and while it is bad and harming for the society, it can be used for good. I'm not saying that we should tolerate racists or keep our mouths shut. We can show disapproval to their thoughts and help them quit their racist ways, but most importantly, we need to stop thinking about them too much. Going angry against them won't help, and neither will being kind to them help. I think it is a matter of time for a change to help society.

Currently, we need more racists so that more chaos is created and so that through that chaos, people will start recognizing how bad racists are and so that they overthrow them. I'm not the person that always looks in the bright side of everything, but in this case, I believe it is good to do so. (I'm also desperate to hear about the others' opinions as well.)

The way I think about it is that everyone has a reason. That, and I'm really too weak to get angry. If I get angry, everyone laughs, so I don't even have the option. Instead I just try to figure out why, and defend people (verbally). Try to expand everyone's perspectives, if I can. Are those people racist because someone they knew was gang raped by people with a certain colored skin? Or did they grow up in a household where they've been told all their lives the horrors of that race? Hate only breeds hate, and you don't fight fire with fire. (No, I'm not talking about controlled forest fires.)

And I know you're going to hate to hear this, but Trump is popular in America for two reasons: 1) America's population is composed mostly of idiots, and 2) Despite EVERYTHING (the hotheadedness, the not-so-nice remarks, the trigger happy idiots he attracts, etc.), Trump is smart, period. He built an entire empire from the ground up, and used our own broken system to his benefit. And not only is he smart, but he has nothing to gain by running for president save padding his own ego. He already has all of the money to have whatever kinds of power he wants. I think the only reason he's running is because he once joked that he would.

Anyway, Hilary let our own people die horrible deaths, and Sanders...yah no, Sanders would be as much of a push over as Obama has been. Ted Cruz played dirty in the preliminaries, and no one cares about the other guy. Plus, Trump has been dishing out some nasty words, yes, but when has he ever attacked his own people (not including his ex-wives)? I'd be embarrassed to have him as president, yes, but I'm so sick of our presidents doing nothing, that maybe another hotheaded Reagan figure is what we need to get people to stop looking away from their own problems.

And honestly, I think that racism and global warming are the least of our problems right now, when there's an extremely organized faction in the Middle East trying to blow EVERYONE up. It's time to stop fighting ourselves and fight against the people trying to blow everything and everyone up.

hang urselves tbh :duetaddict:
Somehow this is becoming more and more about politic, which wasn't intended but is fine, I guess.

Don't know that much about Trump, and maybe he is smart, but if that's true then he's an ignorant asshole.
I admit that i don't know anything about the other canditates, but even if they are worse, that doesn't make him someone who should be president. Didn't his father built up their wealth?
Maybe Rainecho is right and it needs a bang so people wake up again, but well. Do they really have to touch fire to know it's bad? Like. We have been there. 70 Years ago. How fast do people forget. Guess all we can do is raise our voice against them, and encourage others do to so aswell.

And yeah the IS is a problem , which is a whole different topic, for sure, but ignoring global warming isn't right. Why should we fight the IS when theres nothing to fight about?
rainau 10 Apr, 2016 @ 8:44am
Global warming is not really a topic that affects today's life. Sure, it will be a problem in some years, but as long as there are people driving cars that use fossil fuels, global warming will continue to exist. Global warming is something that should be considered internationally as a whole, which is a hard thing to do. It is not something that affects moral values or politics, but survival and ecosystems.

The thing is that even if people want to stop global warming, there will always be people that would want to stop them. Fossil fuels make a lot of money, and as long as people who sell these fuels exist, they will always be competition against such groups. For capitalists, what matters is profit. They won't care to fire a man so there is more profit, they won't care to make a second hole in the ozone layer for profit, they won't care to create a third world war if they know that they can sell guns and make profit.

As for the terrorists and the ISIS, let them do their work. Bombing some cities down is just part of what they do to make people fear them. Showing resistance to the fear is a way to fight them, I suppose. But in the end, they will stop one day.

es tut mir lied ich habe nicht deutsch benutzen fur dreizig jahren, englisch ist auch nicht mien erste sprache aber....
the very worst thing you can do to someone is pity them so instead of pitying them show them by example. just the other day i visited a convention where there were different activists including some quite vocal feminists.....after they were done accusing me of the earth i asked what they wanted. free feminine hygeine products....no chance of that happening in this country anytime soon so i gave them the money i would spend on razors and shaving cream etc if i didnt have a beard other people saw this and joined in.
not the best example but its a start to make others follow your lead and sloly but surely it happens naturally

on a political note adolf was so much a hero at one point that he had full backing from the vatacan in the beginning and look where that ended up!

keep doing what youre doing pal and stay strong

Let me tell you, Donald Trump is not a racist. If he is a racist, then provide evidence for your claim. Donald Trump has good intentions for the United States. He is just a nationalist who is wanting to put the country before any foreign affairs. Trump is getting all the negative press because of the establishment does not want him to get into any type of power in Government. It is really evident with how the GOP is organizing voter fraud, a good example of this is with Colorado primary caucus. The reason for the GOP's concern is because they know that they cannot control Trump. Trump is self-funding his own campaign thus, Trump is not in the hands of any special interests, donors, or lobbyists.

My biggest concern of the United States is allowing mass immigration to our country. I am not being a bigot here but there is too much of a risk for accidentally allowing the wrong people to enter the country. I am not against the Muslims or any ethnicity group but I am against people who justify the combination of Religion and State, such as ISIS. It's fine to have irrationalities but when you combine irrationalities with absolutism, then you create a warmongering theocracy. We have seen this with the tragedy of Palestine, the current Syrian Civil War, and Spanish Inquisition.

I personally like to focus on the positive things in life, being aware of the horrible things going on is fine, but hyping it up only extends the reach of all the negativity in my opinion.
I think we need more action on trying to find solutions with what power we have instead of trying to rely on someone else doing it.

Like doing whatever little bit we can, I try to tackle it my own way by doing things that can create and do stuff for humanity in one way or another, even if it's simple things like picking up the trash from the street or simply smiling at a person, if there's success and they return a smile, then I would like to believe that trigger out there has spread something more positive than negative.

Of course, that requires having some reserve energy and interest to do so in the first place~
