Its is definitely rare but far from the most rare. There are 67 in the wild according to this http://stats.tf/item/169/The_Golden_Wrench I would wager it would be in the 10-15 bud range just off the top of my head. Possibly more though, I mean the damn thing turns you into a gold statue when you are killed by it!

Ah, so what would you say the rarest, or most valuble, item in TF2 is? I'm a newbie to the TF2 economy so I dont really know much about this.

rarest item in tf2? Vintage buds, vintage alien swarm. uncraftable buds, stock masters yellow belt and black rose. Hard to judge but those are some of the more valuable ones i can think of off the top of my head

No its a good question. Rarity and value don't always coincide because you have to have demand for the specific item. For example there are items that there are just 1 of like the Vintage Guadalahara but it will likely never see the light of day so who knows what it could go for. Then you have items like the Burning Team Captain that there are 5 of and is valued at 100+ Buds. Lastly you have items like the Strange Part: Robots Killed During Halloween. Only 77 exist that aren't attached to a weapon and it only goes for 4-keys.

IF, by some miracle it was to be put on the market....Cant even fathom the cost of that hat.

Several thousand I guess at least 4k? Its all subjective of course. To compare, i think burning TCs go for around $1400? and there are around 5 of them. (dont quote me on those figures lol)
