Craft Numbers?
Ok I just gotta ask, why are some craft numbers worth more? I'm guess it has no actual importance and this whole tf2 economy is just silly.

Craft numbers are important to people that either just wanna have something to collect or feel important. If you have anything under Craft 100 it shows up on the item itself in game. Sure the TF2 Economy is silly but you can't change it.. Only way to change it is to take away the trading system completely along with hats and go back to the old days. No F2Ps no hats no trading.. no economy. Other craft numbers like 1337 or 9000 just are popular numbers if you know what they mean. It has importance to those that are looking for profit. Craft #1-100 can normally sell for multiple keys to buds or unusual hats/misc.

It's not silly, it makes perfect sense. TF2 is about vanity first and gameplay second.
Any craft number less than 100 or 100 itself appears in game and is therefore valuable. It's like saying, "Hey look at me, I've got the very first original ever made!".

Anyone who tells you that anything over 100 is valuable is probably inexperienced, they only show up in BP examiners, and really have no extra value, perhaps make exemptions for 1337, 9999 and other rarities.

Well I do like the hats and wouldn't want to see those go away. I guess I can understand the whole collector's mindset though that was never really my thing though I'd never part with my collection of vintage achievement weapons lol. I was just shocked when I saw someone trading an Area 451 craft 40 something, and they refused 16 refined metals, man that must take a very long time to collect.

I did just see a Lvl #99 Cross Com Express for sale, that's pretty cool because it's under #100 AND it's 99 so that just looks cool.
Another example is someone's Craft #1 Lvl #69 Cross Com Hat ( I was looking at cross comms) XD
That is going for quite a chunk of change.

As a veteran, I respectfully disagree

All hail the mighty necromancer!
craft numbers are only worth more to a small group of people. 90% of the unusual traders you meet will tell you they will not accept craft number items...

That's generally because they are hard to sell, they aren't extremely popular.

lol old post... I'm a bit more used to the trading community but I'm still shocked by things like people charging over $1000 or almost $2000 for a wearable in game item. I'd have to be a jackpot lottery winner to even think of that.

Is anything beyond 100 worth anything like 101-500?

Only if they are special numbers like 1000, 420, 666, 1337, 1234, etc. or certain numbers that are valuable to certain collectors like a year say 1982 or some other sentimental.

But random raft numbers like 1273 don't fetch anything more

Alright, this topic has been necro'd three times now, probably a good idea to lock it.
