Even though Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) made Left 4 Dead (L4D) obsolete by introducing new special infected, weapons, gameplay mechanics, and integrated the L4D campaign into it, although it is still fun to play the much simpler L4D. L4D defined the co-op shooter subgenre with fun gameplay, gave the playable characters memorable personalities and chemistry, iconic special infected their sound effects and music cues, highly replayable game design especially with friends. It is well optimized for PC considering it is a Valve Source engine game and was released back in 2008 so it can run smoothly on modern day PCs.

Some problems it has is the game is old but there are potential online players for online gameplay, and the bots are really dated due to not performing as good compared to human controlled characters or bots of newer games.

Only buy it if you want to complete your collection, and play with friends for the best experience, otherwise go straight to L4D2 due to being a direct upgrade in most cases to this game, albeit some minor gameplay differences.
