My least favorite of the 3D Fallout games.

Between invisible walls and OP enemies forcing you to follow a specific route. Kinda defeats the whole open world bit. Sure once you make it to New Vegas, you can usually take on anything. By then though you've probably cleared out most of the enemies aside from cazadors and deathclaws, leaving the world feeling mostly empty too soon. Most of the area around New Vegas itself is devoid of enemies, except for one section to the west. A bunch of POIs are just empty places filled with junk items, oh boy another empty shack with tin cans and empty bottles.

Most of the quests just piss off another faction. Boringly part of the main questlines is just running back and forth to talk with NPCs, the upside is the other part pisses off a faction so you can fight more enemies.

It is an experience though. Being my 5th or 6th playthrough so far so take the review as you want.

I'd recommend 3 first for introduction and story, if you can stand the rpg hit/miss system, then 4 for accessibility and not being a crashing mess, 76 if you got friends(and money for the unlimited storage rental) and then New Vegas being the bastard child between modern and old thats slightly disabled and lacking in what one expects.

Early Access Review
Generic Mech game using Hawken brand. Feels barebones. Needs more content.

Brainless grinding with a gacha system attached.

PSO2 base
pros:
has multiplayer content

cons:
Generic lava area, generic desert area, generic grass area, generic snow area. + extras
story has so much filler I stopped paying attention to the story.
brainless grinding

New Genesis
Pros:
Better movement
Prettier
Story is ok.

Cons:
Generic lava area, generic desert area, generic grass area, generic snow area.
Was probably made to compete with other gacha open world games like Genshin Impact. (insert obligatory collectables [red chests] hidden around the map here)
No multiplayer content except Urgent Quests, searching for red chests or grinding zones for triggers or arms refiners.
Want to try out a new class and level up the gear prepare for hours of brainless grinding.

Honestly, it just makes me miss PSO.

Yes if you love Final Fantasy RPGs. No if you are a completionist.

Fun little rpg thats has some nostalgia moments. Wished it had more FF characters. I probably laughed way more than I expected.

Now for my negative ranting.

The game cannot be launched from steam. You have to go into the installation folder and launch it from the exe. Otherwise it starts and then closes.

The battle system is seemingly designed to be slow motion, can literally go 30+ seconds without you or the enemy having a turn. Thankfully there is a fast forward button (I recommend turning it from pressed to toggle in the options, thing I wished I knew before spending 30 hours holding a button).

The fast forward mutes the game sounds. So any in battle dialogue can be missed along with the sfx.

The game itself seems to run out of content about midway through. No new dungeons (until after you get the true ending but its just bits of previous dungeons slapped together), but there is still story and bosses to face. So grinding is a pain, especially considering the cheapness of some of those bosses.

Captured enemies all become level 1. Even if you caught it at the last dungeon. Which makes it hard to justify swapping team members. I literally stuck with the same party since the 2nd or 3rd dungeon.

The minigames are ass. They are also bugged. The battleship knockoff can not render properly for certain graphic cards making it impossible to play. The whack a mole knockoff, enemies spawned and disappeared within the same second making it impossible to complete.

Dear RPG makers, STOP, making opening every chest a f***ing achievement.

Honestly I found myself getting more and more aggravated during achievement clean up because there was no content, only grind.

If you go for the movement type that isn't teleporting, its very clunky. It for some reason locks the forward and reverse to the direction you tilted the right stick for instead of locking to your view. So you'll be pressing to go backwards and be going right, or some variation of going the wrong direction.

Combat feels clunky and unsatisfying. Every enemy has armor, most have shields to block attacks.
Found myself just spam swinging the sword to kill enemies instead of waiting for the random animation that allows a hit to connect.

Don't know when the last update was, maybe 2020? So dead game.

Got the game for $1 in the humble bundle.

The bow for whatever reason is the best I've played with in a VR game. So it has at least one good thing going.

Some missions can crash the game. One achievement is bugged. Game cannot be completed %100. No response from devs on issues for two years. Don't buy.

A major issue the game has is bugginess when it comes to zombies grabbing you even though you hit them, or ignoring the choke because its pixel perfect window is the second before they grab you.

The Game starts out with a super easy tutorial and then immediately dropping you in the deep end on the first scavenge mission with a knife that gets stuck for 5 seconds, while more and more zombies spawn that just leaves a really bad initial experience. I almost didn't play anymore, thinking this is going to be the entire game.

If you suffer through dying/almost dying on that scavenge mission to unlock the next story missions, (a decent strat is to stab one while grabbing another, or stabbing the one you grabbed because it'll let you move where as just stabbing locks your character into place and you can't move) and get the hammer from the second story mission, the game becomes much more fun/manageable.

TLDR; Really really bad game design starting out, but it opens up later, just never use blade weapons.

It is addictive.

Tip for those struggling with ranged weapons, the weapon xp system gives the same amount of xp no matter how much you hit an enemy with a weapon. So if you want to level a bow or magic staff, attack once, switch to another weapon that can block attacks.

And now the bad stuff.

The game feels unbalanced when it comes to life skills. You need all of them, for any of them. Wanna make "cloth" pants? It needs metal. An iron sword? It needs leather.

The marketplace has some massive growing pains from being a new game and I suspect because everyone is doing life skill stuff, theres not really a market for any item. When you can go out and get it for free. Theres no npc shop to sell surplus to, so you'll eventually hit the wall of no storage space.

The faction system is, well, a generic faction system. Feels like Pokemon Go again. Instead of gyms its towns. There is a "reward" system for faction currency earned from doing faction quests. But most of it is underleveled by the time you have enough to get anything. Besides runes of holding for more carrying capacity, its underwhelming.

Whatever the ♥♥♥♥ the fast travel system is. It has its own "currency" called Azoth to use, that is also used to give crafted items a bonus stat or a slot if lucky. Azoth sometimes drops and sometimes doesn't. For how I'm playing atm I've been getting nearly none. Probably need to look at a guide for it.

Crafting is a mess. On top of needing the life skills for other life skills, there are leveled crafting stations. So you have to go to another town to make an item because the ruling faction upgraded the station there and not in your main town.

Crafting also feels underwhelming, most of the time you are making underleveled armor/weapons compared to stuff that randomly drops.

No matchmaking for the dungeons.

Content drought at level 25-30 for solo players. At this point its pretty much meant to be played with a group.

Buying a house atm is a waste of money. Also the bonuses that you can get from it besides one extra free fast travel every 3-4 hours, other bonuses require high crafting levels to create the trophy buffs and extra storage. You are taxed every so often after buying the house and with the marketplace being a mess and no real way to make money, you'll eventually get evicted.

Combat eventually boils down to attack twice and block, repeat. Unless you aggro more than one mob, then you're praying your block stamina doesn't run out and get stunned because of it.

Doesn't feel worth the price. Still fun though.
