Bot Gaiden is a 2D Action Hack 'n Slash Platformer about 2 Ninjabots Robyu and Bytron. You take on each stage racing against time and fight a boss at the end of each stage, so basically you gotta rush through the stage as quick then bosses HP is shorter and you can kill them quicker.

This game is pretty short and fun if you like fast paced rush games, It went under the radar for some reason and never got the love it deserves.

Colorful stages with different enemies that will try to overwhelm you from all sides. you get abilities also during your run which varies from ranged attacks, to double jump to dash attack.

The boss fights were fun and be dangerous if you're not careful with your quick decisions. The music and soundtracks were nice as well, brings back the great gaming days.

If you're reading this and you love fast paced 2D action platformers, then this is a good recommendation. It's truly a hidden gem.

Rogue Loops is a Fast Paced Action Roguelite about the loop. You play in 4 different worlds each has their own enemies and randomized structures.

The map in each world is circled shaped divided into 2 sections, an upper and lower sections. You have to clear each room (1 half) claiming skull points which you have total up a certain number to open the gate to that certain world boss.

In short, You loop around the 2 sections of the circle as many times facing the curses in that particular room until you reach the boss. It's an interesting and a unique mechanism indeed, the reason why I was hooked into this game immediately.

It's similar to games like Hades where you dash around the room dodging enemy attacks and bullets but this time in a very narrow and tight spaces which makes it even more challenging.

Well designed boss fights and music, they were fun to figure out and beat. The music and soundtracks were top notch.

If you're a big fan of Action Roguelite genre and Hades, then this is a must play and very recommended.

Mages of Mystralia is an Action Adventure RPG about the mage Zia who ventures on a journey of magic full of hurdles in a kingdom where magic is considered forbidden.

The game offers a rune system where you can create multiple and different spells that matches your own play style. The game story was amazing and I enjoyed following it to the end.

The game was made in 2017 and I don't regret playing it in 2025 as I found out about it recently, the design of the game was flawless, I didn't encounter any bugs or issues during my playthrough.

Top notch music and world that will keep you hooked to play more and more, I loved the boss fights, each single one was unique and had a nice design. You need to use different strategies to beat each boss which makes it challenging yet fun at the same time.

Thank you Borealys Games Studio for giving me the opportunity to play this amazing Gem, they also have an upcoming game "Echoes of Mystralia" currently in development which I'm sure it will be amazing same as this.

Kemono Heroes is a short and challenging 2D Action Platformer with arcade graphics and gaming style. It's about your village where everyone got turned into a stone statues and your mission is to venture and remove the curse and restore back peace.

The game offers 1-4 Co-op gaming or single player mode as well. The screen is filled with enemies that attack you from almost every direction and you have to fight your way through each stage and reach the end of it to proceed. There are a total of 4 worlds with 3 stages each.

The controls are very solid and didn't face any single bug during my playthrough which was amazing due to the number of enemies on screen. You can get overwhelmed quickly if you're not timing your attacks or reacting quickly enough which can be challenging but as well push your limits.

The difficulty starts to spike as you head into further level worlds. The music was engaging and fun to listen to. There are shops where you can buy health, ninpo upgrades as well as strengthen your weapons.

The boss weren't very challenging however the more you play into the game, more stuff will get revealed which will keep you hooked as you progress your way through.

This is a very recommended 2D Action Platformer especially if you love that arcade style old school vibe.

Important Note before I start my review:

My actual gameplay time is 20-26 hrs to 100% the game with all achievements. I have left the game open for almost 24 hrs straight due to some IRL situation unfortunately, so I hope it doesn't confuse you. Now to the review!!

Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark is an Action packed metroidvania and a sequel to the first game Gal Guardians: Demon Purge. The story revolves around the 2 maid demons Kirika and Masha who are on a mission to try and restore their demon lord's body after getting destroyed by another demon lord.

I like how the first game was a 2D Action Platformer which now the sequel has become a metroidvania with lots of story and lore involved. This is definitely a big improvement.

The art style is eye catching as always with so many vibrant colors. Solid controls and flawless gameplay and content that will keep you hooked for hours of gaming.

The soundtracks were amazing that will keep your gaming sessions enjoyable.

I loved the designs of each single boss fight with their art design as well as the challenge they bring, definitely big improvements from the first game.

If you love anime style metroidvanias or metroidvanias in general, then this is a definite recommendation.

Mega City Force is an Action Roguelite with multiple characters who form a squad to take down the Megacorp Organization HQ.

The game features over 10 characters whom each have their own style and abilities. The game also has over 100 different weapons and upgrades which you can use to matchup your own style of runs. Weapons rarity from common to legendary can drop or be found during your run.

The game controls were very solid and the gameplay can be very frustrating and challenging yet very fun at the same time. It will make you want to keep trying again and again after each failure, you can get overwhelmed by enemies attacking you from each side very quickly if you're not careful.

The music and soundtracks were very relaxing which makes the runs even more enjoyable. The bosses were also were quick and fun which I loved.

If you love Action Roguelites then this is a good recommendation. Overall Rating 10/10

DOOMBLADE is a thrilling Metroidvania about a gloomling who saves the doomblade and ventures together on a mission to take down the Dreadlords.

The game offers a very big world with many different biomes and lots of secrets and upgrade to uncover and find. The controlling mechanism is that you launch your character on targeted enemies that has the icon on top of them in order to damage them which is a very fun mechanism.

The soundtracks are a true banger, very engaging boss music that I loved so much!! The boss fights were fun and challenging at the same time. The game gets better as you further progress as you get stronger.

This game has a very nice resembelance of Hollow Knight so if you're a big fan of Hollow Knight or Metroidvanias in general, then I can say this is a must play.

Pepper Grinder is a 2D Action Platformer where you play as the character Pepper. The character holds a drill which can carve through surfaces and you will use it to move between platforms.

Each stage has interesting platforming challenges which gonna test your precise timing and speed in jumping between each surface. There are multiple weapons / mech that will be temporary equipped through your journey to help tackle certain stages.

The music is very engaging and amazing to listen to at the same time. Lots of secrets to uncover and breakables to collect treasures. The bosses can be quite challenging if you're not careful with your timings yet they are very fun at the same time.

Amazing 2D Action Platformer which really should get more recognition. Overall Rating 10/10

Beyond the Ice Palace 2 is an Action Packed Platformer and is a sequel released after 35+ years from the first game which came out first in 1988.

The story is about the king who was getting shot by a celestial arrow from the sky every year and continue to rule the kingdom until one year everything goes off track and disruptions happen in the world causing demons to overtake it. You get revived as the Cursed King to continue your mission of revenge.

The game offers multiple biomes each with its unique platforming challenges and secrets. Skill tree upgrade system which can be used upon finding crystals to upgrade your stats.

I found the rage system in the game very fun to use which gives you tremendous powers for a short time until it runs out. The controls are very solid and plays very well.

The soundtracks were top notch and I also loved each and every single boss fights. Crazy battles that will keep you on your toes and gives you the adrenaline rush.

If you're a big fan of Action Platformers, then this is a well worth 35+ years sequel and truly recommend to play. Overall Rating 10/10

Scarlet City of Devils is a hand drawn art metroidvania with a fun battle system, the story is about scarlet who ventures on a mission to take down enemies who's causing a ruckus all over the city and stop their ultimate goal.

The game offers many weapon styles to fight with from swords to axes to guns. Each weapon style will become crucial during battle moments to stop the momentum of the challenging and fierce bosses you will come across in your journey.

Amazing soundtracks for each biome and engaging battle music for bosses. Lots of secrets to find and collectibles to purchase to gain increase health / damage.
