Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is the sequel to the first game Tails of Iron, a 2D soulslike game with an amazing story. The story this time is about Arlo the heir of the north who's kingdom got invaded by the darkwings army, you venture into a vengeful mission in the cold of the north to redeem yourself, your kingdom and your father.

As expected this even surpassed my expectation when I played the first game, solid controls, interesting story with references related to the Witcher & Game of Thrones series. The game plays very well and the mechanics this time are so much awesome including the grappling hooks and the elements system / whetstones will play a big role in the combat.

The first thing caught my eyes are the nice color palettes for each boss and gear sets which each changes the look of your character. Challenging boss battles as expected that will make your adrenaline rush, no exaggeration here xD.

If you haven't played the first game yet, then I suggest you do. There are characters from the first game that involves in the story in the 2nd game.

Somber Echoes is a 2.5D Metroidvania with a great story and playbility, you play as Adestia a warrior who lives on Atromitos (Giant Mother Ship) in space and venture into a very interesting choices of biomes full of secrets and challenging platforming sections.

The gameplay is solid, you will need sometime at the beginning to master the lantern system, but once you do, the game gets even more fun, as you progress you will get abilities in form / shapes of weapons that will help you backtrack previously inaccessible areas.

I havent faced a single bug during my playthrough which is amazing due to the amount of 3D models put into every corner of the room, no FPS drops, controls are solid as well.

The soundtracks were top notch, especially the last biome. Very interesting boss fights and can be challenging if you're not careful with your parry timings.

Very recommended if you're a big metroidvania fan. Overall Rating 10/10

Super Roboy is an action packed hand drawn metroidvania about a robot boy who ventures in order to regain his past memories.

The game offers a leveling system with over 60 enemies skills that you can learn and use to access different biomes on the map, tons of secrets to uncover and you will need to overcome lots of platforming challenges for multiple collectibles.

The game controls are super solid and plays super well, I didn't face a single issue in my 19 hrs playthrough to 100% the game.

Loved the art design of bosses as it was fun and unique, the game gets better as you progress further. Great soundtracks during the playthrough / while fighting the bosses.

Really recommended metroidvania as we start 2025!! Overall Rating 10/10

Gato Roboto is a Short 2D Metroidvania about a cat with its owner who crash landed on a space station and your mission is venture to help your friend.

The game default palette is white and black but as you progress into the game you find hidden palettes that has other different colors.

Intriguing music for each biome and it gets even better when fighting bosses, lots of secrets to uncover and different skills to find that will help you reach previously inaccessible areas.

Very recommended metroidvania with an overall rating of 10/10

Leif's Adventure: Netherworld Hero is a 2D Action Platformer with Metroidvania inspired style that will really test your skills in combat, puzzle solving and backtracking. You venture into a journey to save your brother and defend your village from the phantoms king who seeks to destroy it.

Immersive art style for all stages and characters as well as the bosses. The soundtracks were top notch. The game has lots of platforming sections and backtracking that will keep you on your toes, punishing boss fights and lots of secrets to discover.

I had a slow start but the game keeps getting better as your progress further into the story, so if you're reading this right now, then I suggest you keep trying no matter what and you will see the fruits of your exploration.

If one thing I would suggest implementing into the game in the future is controls remapping, other than that I didn't really have any issues with the game and I enjoyed it.

Amazing game from a solo developer. Overall Rating 9/10

HunterX: code name T is the sequel and the 2nd game of HunterX if you haven't played it already. An Action Metroidvania with a leveling up system and a skill tree for additional stats that will help you throughout your journey.

The game has improved in many ways since the first one and I really enjoyed it. Interesting weapons art designs and attack animations.

The music choice is really good and I enjoyed each and every one of them. The boss battles are more challenging in the sequel and will require your focus because a mistake is punishing yet fun at the same time.

I really recommend the sequel as well as the first game as both are very polished and amazing.

HunterX is a 2.5D Action packed metroidvania about a hunter who enters another realm to get rid of the demons. The game features a level up system with a skill tree for a variety of skills that will you obtain throughout your playthrough.

Lots of challenge and puzzle rooms and interesting level designs. Different enemy types and challenging boss fights that will test your skills.

The level designs and soundtracks choices were perfect, the game is so polished and is truly worth playing.

Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur is an amazing Action RPG Roguelike that will test your dodging abilities and your patience. In this game you play as King Arthur Pendragon and try to restore the kingdom of camelot as it was destroyed by giants.

The gameplay and controls were pretty solid, I had fun trying out different combos of weapons and skills which you obtain by clearing rooms of challenges during your runs, there is also skill tree and gem upgrades that makes you even powerful for future runs which adds the fun to each run.

Randomized runs and enjoyable music in each different biome. The bosses and minibosses were all challenging and fun at the same time.

Very recommended and polished Action RPG Roguelike with an overall rating of 10/10

Nocturnal is a very nice and short 2D Action platformer where you need to keep lighting up flames as you go through multiple sections of puzzle and platforming in order to stay away from the darkness and stay alive. Your Kingdom was overtaken by the Mist and you venture on a mission to find out the source.

The game is divided into multiple challenge rooms of enemies along with big platforming sections that will test your reactions and quickness in moving through the darkness.

Very nostalgic soundtracks and interesting story, lots of hidden secrets to uncover in this amazing 2D Action Platformer. The boss fights were very nice and I loved the art style. I really can't wait to play more of this in the upcoming sequel in 2025.

Tails of Iron is an amazing 2D Metroidvania / Souls-like game that will really test your combat ability, precision, timing and dodging abilities. The game was super solid and I truly enjoyed it, so many stuff to do in the game from side quests, to exploration and finding secrets. You venture in a revenge mission for your father (The King) who was killed by the Frogs Warchief.

The controls were solid, I didn't struggle with the controls, If you have played souls like games, then you should have no problem with this. It takes time and patience to get the mechanics at the beginning.

Amazing biomes with nostalgic music and sountracks, my favourite thing about the whole game were the boss fights, they were fun to tackle and to learn the patterns of each one.

Great gearing system from light to medium all way to heavy armor, you get to choose a one handed, two handed and a ranged weapons from your arsenal to carry with you during your battles. The tap refill idea was fun too, I really liked it.

My words maybe are not enough to express this amazing gem that I have been wanting to play from a long time but never had the time to do that, but now I was finally able to.

Can't wait for the sequel release and I hope it will even surpass this one. Overall Rating 10/10
