Honestly one of the best aerial combat games I've played so far, if you liked Ace Combat you will love this game.

Changing my review after all these years now that I've replayed the game.

I still encounter bugs pretty regularly but luckily they are more immersion breaking and annoying rather than totally game breaking.

Worth the purchase with the reduced price, updates, and a relatively strong modding community.

Won't ever live up to the hype of the trailers and teasers, but it's at least a decent game.

To start, this is one of the most mediocre remasters I have ever played. That being said if you've never played Dark Souls before I would still highly recommend the series. I am only comparing this remaster to the original release.

Pros:
- The game now supports 60 FPS
- Password Matchmaking for Co-op play
- Vamos Bonfire
- A few of the major bugs and glitches were patched
- Particle effects on fire look pretty now

Cons:
- Weapon upgrade based matchmaking is a terrible mistake in this game
- Not ALL bugs were patched, and even some new ones were created
- Vamos Bonfire was pretty much the only major change to the base game
- Graphics are still on par with the original release which was 9 years ago
- invasions are now even more exploitable due to weapon upgrade based matchmaking
- DSfix, a free mod for the original release, pretty much brings up the performance of the original game to match this one

Overall, if you own the original game on Steam. You arent missing anything on this remaster except a more active online community. And even then online matchmaking whether it's PvP or Co-op is still riddled with issues whether it's bugs, connectivity, or just exploitable game mechanics.

Short and simple list of pros and cons, far from the worst game I've played and if you enjoyed games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. you might find this game enjoyable.

Pros:
- Enemy diversity
- Wide array of weapons and play styles
- The game controls fairly well
- Several areas to travel between, each with different climates and enemies
- Combat can be challenging to pick up, yet satisfying to master
- No artificial barriers to stop you from traveling where ever you want, aside from locked rooms in dungeons
- A decent amount of side areas and dungeons to explore
-Voice acting is pretty decent, even though there isn't much of it

Cons:
- The maps feel mostly empty
- Selection of skill trees is very limited due to only having 3 skill points total
- Most of the time you spend in this game will be walking
- The survival aspect becomes very trivial quickly
- Enemy AI is fairly stupid and easy to exploit
- Loot doesn't seem to scale very well, I often find myself getting the same loot from clearing beginner dungeons as I do from clearing much more difficult ones
- Quests often have you walking long distances back and forth between two areas multiple times
-Quests have a hidden time limit that results in a fail condition if you don't do it in the unknown time given

My biggest gripe with the game is that the world just feels empty for the most part. Which is problematic when the only way to get places is from running from point to point. It breaks up the immersion and instead becomes a tedious task when having to travel. If you prefer not to run quests and instead just explore for the sake of exploring then the game becomes quite a bit more enjoyable.
