Such a fun game. Reminds me of MediEvil and Jack is just an awesome character.

Highly recommend playing this game. Reminds me of OG PS1 games of this style, but WAY WAY prettier.

10/10 please play this game for your own good! Its spoopy season, if you arent playing this literal slice of halloween, you're missing out bigtime!

Cant believe im reviewing this in 2017. I have a LOT more hours than steam suggests. I remember playing this on day one and now, playing this in 2020, it feels like a new game almost.

Kinda crazy how far this game has come and how dedicated the playerbase is. Hats off to The Last Stand. What an incredible addition to an already amazing game!

This game is absolutely incredible. The soundtrack doesn't disappoint either. Rogue like rhythm shooter! If you cant stay on beat or you don't like EDM, this game probably isn't for you. However, if you can stay on beat and like amazing soundtracks, you'll enjoy this game a ton!BPM has a ton of replayability imo and its just too fun to put down. Give this game a shot!

Early Access Review
EDIT: Came back after not playing for a while waiting on new updates. Heard a massive update was coming out. Played the new levels and ran into a dating sim easter egg...

Okay weird, but moving on.

Decided to look into the game a little bit more for new stuff cause i genuinely love the game. Was bombarded online with Pr0n, weird fan fictions, and the dev himself in a blog being giga-horny and weird. Saw some videos on the development with Dev Q&A and some... weird things were said to put it lightly.

This falls into the same level as Bloodborne kart dev. No thanks.

Completely ruined the game for me. Wtf is this.

Im a gay dude, and its not a "representation of the LGBTQIA struggle" like i see everywhere (when did this become the agreed upon story? Its literally everywhere when you look for UK information. Quite... dumb.). Its a robot killing things. Basically TEMU doom with Robots. Same plot basically. So if thats the case... Are you saying that the LGBT's idea is to infiltrate others nice things (heaven) and then destroy it? Nicely done saying the quiet part out loud ya weirdos.

I loved and championed this game, but holy god wtf has happened in a year?

Uninstalling and would refund if i could. Not only is that absolutely 2013 levels of... the tism. But its just gross and the fanbase surrounding it has completely turned me off of it all-together.

LIke reddit, but somehow more goon filled and weird.

No thanks. Hard no. Enjoy your weird bubble you created bro. Holy hell. Is this just a pattern with all these retro styled games? If so, noted and ill take more time to review before buying.

Dev totally missed the plot and added weird fetish level crap to the game about a robot literally hellbent on killing and soaking in blood. Weird to say the least, gooner to put it mildly.

Thats gonna be a no from me dawg.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have been waiting for this game to launch for months now.
This game makes you feel like a complete boss in every aspect. If you play on hard be prepared to get your nuts kicked in every few levels or so. The final boss (as of this release) is SO INCREDIBLY hard I'm almost certain its impossible.
21/10 Would buy again.
Seriously, if you like fast pace action with Quake style graphics and an extremely killer soundtrack, play this NOW. This is my favorite FPS of the year thus far. It hits that nostalgia feel right on the money while making me feel like a robotic god.
Gotta play this, if you miss this, you're slippin.
I bought this game after having watched the first trailer, and proceeded to play the entire game all the way through.
I would recommend doing just this. Its a shortish game (took me around 4 hours) but the story is extremely compelling.
Dont look into it, buy it, and play it all the way through. The game hit close to home a few times, and its one hell of a rollercoaster.
Graphics: 10/10 for pixel
Sound Design: 11/10 (Wear a good set of headphones or listen on a badass system. The sounds scale with intensity and its INCREDIBLE. It can really get you good.)
Music: 9/10
Gameplay: 10/10 Solid puzzler with unique mechanics for each character
Memorability: Up there with To The Moon in my personal opinion. One of those stories that sticks with you, and its beautiful.
Dont forget to talk to the storyteller!
Amazing game, but will take a certain type of person/player to keep you engaged. I find this game to be incredibly gripping, the story is incredible, the art is beautiful, the characters are very fleshed out, the horror works very well, and the overall package is stellar.
However, my room mate hates the game. Thinks there is too much dialogue, too much walking, too slow paced, and not enough action.
It really depends on how you like to play games. This game can also require you to keep tabs on multiple things at once. Micro managing balancing and optimal paths to avoid enemies. There are a pile of different metrics in this game. Everything you do has some weight to it, it seems. Im only 4 hours in but theres a lot of things to keep track of. I use a little notepad to keep track of exactly what im doing along with the in gear, helps tremendously imo.
I think its a love it or hate it thing.
I love the hell out of it.
This game is great, the bugs I have encountered and Denuvo have really put a damper on it.
1. I found a fix for Denuvo for me and my friend. We both have GSYNC monitors and the INSANE lag was apparent. I fixed it by going into the NVidia control panel and forcing Persona to use GSYNC and left VSYNC on in game. 165 FPS (our monitor Hz) without issue. Runs great. Before, my friend had it capped at 30FPS, which is far less than ideal.
2. I just had a really weird glitch thats going to make me lose some progress. Apparently a big spoiler that I was not ready for. (HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD.)
When looking for Kanji. I found the Grim Reaper chest. I stupidly opened it and tried to fight him. I attacked him once, then he did a huge attack that nuked everyone. When it did, my game locked up completely, made a horrifying noise, and popped back on. I was outside of the chest, with the chest closed. All my characters were completely bugged, they all showed 0/0 HP/SP. I got into another battle with a shadow and it showed my teammates health go back to where they were BEFORE the reaper fight. However my HP/SP stayed at 0. As you can tell, I got the achievement for beating the boss, and I got the sword, but I literally cannot progress without resetting. I also got no EXP and no Gold. (Same Gold, same levels on everyone.) I have looked for about 30ish minutes and could not find anything online to suggest what the hell happened. This is my first persona game, and I'm almost at quitting point due to this. (Granted I was a dumbass and didnt save for a long time.) Also, ironically, this came right after I lost another 50+ hr. save game file yesterday on Grim Dawn. (I know not a lot to some of you, losing Mr. Bloodydots was crushing.) So this makes me 1000x more salty. (I should mention I was in the Teens level when i did this. Wasnt using a guide at this specific point so i had no idea of what I was getting myself into.)
Edit #2:
3. I was so salty I totally forgot to put in the other one I ran into. I also had Yosuke completely disappear in the castle and reappear at the boss fight. I did not dismiss him, nor anyone else. He would appear as if he was following me, but in the shadow battles he would be missing. This happened early on while Yukiko. No progress was lost, but it did make it a bit harder to progress.
As i said above, the game is incredibly amazing. The story is addicting, the gameplay reminds me of Shenmu a bit, and the Arcanas and how they play out have been amazing... However having to work around Denuvo, leading to around an hour + of studying to guess at a fix, is annoying enough to not recommend it while it has this god awful DRM. If the fix works, then awesome, but if you are stuck like some people I know with 30FPS, you will feel the pain of Denuvo's BS.
Edit: Only around an hour progress was lost due to me actually saving on my second file at the right time. So just my 2c, I would keep two save files lol.
Last Edit: This game is heroin. Still only downvoting for the weird bugs and denuvo.
Quick Review: Burnout with awesome graphics. EA dun goofed on the port, so... fixes below.
FIXES FOR EVERYONE!
LAPTOPS: (Not Launching or Extremely Laggy In-Game)
- Right Click Desktop > Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3d Settings > Programs > Add Programs > Add Burnout in the steam/steamapps/common/burnoutPR folder > Look for the GPU setting, should say something like "Auto detect best GPU" in the drop down menu > Select dropdown and click Use NVidia GPU. (This is all from memory, so i hope this helps. I had this issue forever ago when i owned a laptop. Currently a few friends have had this issue and this fixed it for them)
- 4k Gaming Laptops: (black screen)
- Change desktop resolution to 1920x1080 > Start Game > Go to Graphics Options in Game and Change Resolution to 4k > Save and Exit > Change desktop resolution to your monitors recommended. Should fix that issue
Controllers Not Working:
- PS4: Reinstall DS4Windows after deleting the driver manually from dev manager
SKIP INTRO VIDEOS: Open Origin > right click on Burnout in your Games Library > Properties > Advanced Options > Set Launch Options > "-skipintros" > save and exit. (Thank you redditor for helping figure out where the launch properties go!)
Hope this helps!
Since this game still requires Origins BS client, only get it for the $5 bucks. Granted Origins unwanted anoose only starts when the game launches. EA ruins everything, but the game is still good.
