It stayed in Super Alpha forever. I love edmund McMillen and REALLY love his games. This one is the forgotten child of all his games though. Just left to die without a care in the world.

But hey, at least Mewgenics is finally happening. been waiting 11 years for that lol

ITS NOT A FINAL VERSION OF A GAME. Check Edmunds twitter for more info. DO NOT BUY THIS THINKING ITS A COMPLETE GAME. IT IS NOT.

So far, its super alpha, but very fun. With more QoL polish and a big bugfix, we should have one hell of a game right here.

Early Access Review
An amazing rogue-lite, retro FPS. Even in EA its still astounding. I cannot wait to play more of this.

I finally might have found a new addiction. <3

Absolutely amazing game. Even my friends who do not like twitch shooters have picked it up. The campaign and way the game progresses are astounding. Simply one of the best retro styled games ever created. Perfect era adaptation with lots of QoL improvements.

Even with a group of 3-4 people online, its hours of fun and super intense.

Quick Side Note: There is a mod called CubeMegaMod that works with the steam version and fixes nearly everything about the game. Its basically a fan made megapatch and makes the game worth playing. So if you see my playtime increase, its because of this mod solely.

Sad. I remember when the Alpha was so much fun. I remember after Wollay ghosted everyone, people would host alpha servers to play. It was that much fun.

Its completely rekt now. Skip it, and just let it die, like it should have all those years ago.

Wollay, i hope you choke on a dry biscuit.

I refunded the product before I ever got to play. The insane amounts of data they collect on you is nothing short of Orwellian Practices.

Picture of just one sample, this list goes on for quite a while, and more things are listed after it. (Well it was here. Link got removed. You can find it online and at the beginning of the game.)

I would highly advise yall to read the Privacy Policy on this game. Its legitimately insane the crap they CAN collect on you. None of this should be relevant in a single player game. Just the personal information area is bad enough. Not to mention all the demographic and personal details they CAN collect. There is a bunch of optional stuff for the website and a ton more questionable privacy things. If its not concerned with the game, why are you adhering to it? Its a single player game for christs sake.

People have compared it to steams. I have compared it to steams, and steams is MUCH lighter on the things they can collect. Its reasonable. The Bandai/Namco policy on this game is insane. Even the Code Vein disclaimer is far less. I dont get it.

Why do you need to know my favorite game characters? Why do you need to use my number for advertising? Why isn't this information listed on the Steam Store?

I usually don't mind most privacy policies, but this is just abusing power. I refuse to support a company/game that does that.

EDIT: I have reached out to Bandai Namco for EXACTLY what they take and how they do it. If I receive a response, ill update with it here.

EDIT: 10/12/19 Still havent heard back.

EDIT: 10/13/2019 Bandai Namco complained and got my steam review taken down.

Contacted steam, and now it stays up. Since... There was never anything against it in the first place!

update 10/7/24. Yes, that is the correct date.

Im so invested in the story and the characters, just from the prologue. I cannot wait to fully play this game. It seems astounding.

As someone who does not like this genre of game at all, I highly recommend it. 9/10

Friend got it for me. Not a fan of Turn Based Strategy games at all what-so-ever. So far im an hour in and im digging it. Some of the equipment rules (like how they function, stats, etc) are kinda vague. Thats really my only gripe. Otherwise, i really enjoy it. Highly recommend.

Pros:
  • Extremely smooth gameplay
  • Addictive gameplay
  • Great Story
  • No fighting for loot, everyone gets 100% of the loot. (Shops/Ammunition excluded. Shops and ammo on the ground are limited to the person who picks them up.)
  • Fantastic Soundtrack
  • Great challenge curve
  • Co-Op is very quick to connect and the netcode is fantastic
  • Has its own version of Soulsbourne flair. (Estus, Homeward Bones, Bonfires, that type of thing)
  • Levels are randomly generated and where an item is for someone, might not be there for you. This gives amazing replayability but keep that in mind when/if looking for guides.
  • Levels are mission style, not open world like From Soft. There is some openworld, but this is much less vague as to where to go and what to do. The path's lead you exactly where you need to go. I love this, some may miss the open world like DS, but for people who are directionally challenged like me, its super awesome and helpful.

Cons:
  • Directions to waypoints are very vague and could be more specific
  • Needs more class variety
  • Game is slower in pacing than dark souls
  • Key Rebinding only works part way. (For example, if you want Tab to be your weapon switch, if you set tab to it, it will still open the inventory menu and not switch weapons, however, the default X button will work.
  • Mobs/Adds on every bossfight is kind of a PitA. It makes sense since the game is co-op, but single-player is MUCH more difficult. (Gorefist when you get there will give you a perfect example of what im speaking of)

Overall:
  • 9.5/10: With just a tiny bit more polish, this game could easily be a 10/10 for me. I havent had this much fun with a soulsbourne game since i first played Dark Souls.
Edit: 2nd character and almost 40 hours in now, with a completely different layout/boss structure. This game is addicting as crack.

This game is absolutely astounding.

Also Iron Maiden suck a huge fart right out of my balloon knot. No one cares about your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hair band, let the original title stay. It was way cooler. Iron Maiden is so sad they are trying to ride a hype train of a video game lmfao.

Seriously about the game though, its one of the best shooters ive played in ages. Good old BUILD engine goodness with modern QoL. Absolutely loving it and you should buy it.

Great game. Picked it up simply because I enjoy StS so much. Right off the bat impressions.

Pros:
- Great soundtrack
- Art style fits well and looks sharp
- Simplistic gameplay but hard to master
- Not a standard deck builder due to the way this game plays. (Cards disappearing after each use, and attack chains that require on your feet thinking)

Cons:
- Lack of in game visual options (granted, it doesnt really need much)
- Enemy difficulty seems a bit skewed towards super hard. Can be a good thing to some.
- Card details can be a bit confusing coming from other rogue-like card games.

Overall:

Awesome game, and I cant wait to put more time into this.
