Love the game but anymore I spend 20-120 minutes trying to get the game to launch successfully. Ive gone through all the reddit posts and different fixes but its still a crap shoot on whether or not this game decides to white screen crash, black screen crash, or crash at the title screen. If you dont mind dealing with that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it but again my personal experience has been one of frustration trying to get the game to even run lately. Shame since I really like this game

So far much better than I expected. No crashes and maintained a solid 60FPS while streaming. I received the key for free and planned to play for an hour then switch back to Dark Souls III. Its no DS3 but it wasn't bad, in fact I found myself enjoying it the more I played, got some gear, killed some giants and a pissed off prince.

The combat feels stiff but once you get the feel for it, its not that bad. Its not great but its workable. What sucks is the stat penalty mechanic. Every time you take damage your stats do as well. The only way to fix this is to "sleep" even after dying. At best the mechanic is annoying when you spawn at a campsite but becomes tedious and frustrating when you spawn at a shrine. Healing items are also somewhat scarce in the world and don't refresh when you die or camp.

Over all though I had a good time, and I want to play more. Must be doing something right! Oh, and the bloom in game is glaring but brightness to 0 and bloom off did the trick.

IT NEEDS:
Rebindable keys, including mouse buttons and wheel!

Fun game though short. No puzzles or killing. Just some smoking, dancing, music, movies, and a mystery you unravel as you play Stone, the main character.

A couple of twists in there that as long as you are an adult you should be able to handle just fine.

My only complaint is this is "A STONER NOIR ADVENTURE" and unless those things we smoked where joints (we lit, smoked, and flicked them away like cigs) there was nothing in this that made it feel like a stoner game. No bongs, dabs, plants, nothing. I dont think we where ever stoned at all in the game..well I was but Stone wasnt.

Other than that, I enjoyed my almost 2 Hours with Stone and would play another game following Stone through more of his life.

Great game and the enhanced edition looks gorgeous! Highly recommended it if you haven't played it before. If you have its still worth considering but maybe on sale.

Ran pretty flawless until the Knoxx DLC where there was noticeable lag. Putting Steam into offline mode fixed it though.

Ive put almost 300hrs into this game in three weeks. I strongly recommend it but with a warning.

This game is janky...JANKY. By today's gaming standards in terms of polish and finished systems this game should still be considered EA or Beta. I don't care that the Dev worked 12 years on the game, it isn't finished even though it has its 1.xxx version number. The Dev posted on Reddit that this is it. No more content, no engine upgrades (runs on 1 core), and only bug fixes. The modding tool is minimal at best. If you can deal with that read on...

Kenshi is a squad based, open-ended, sandbox, RPG + base building and I freaking love it. In Kenshi you are nobody. Not the chosen one, nothing. Just a dude (or chick, or skellie, or hiver, or Shek). Its brutal, its huge, I can play how I want. Don't want to spend 10hrs mining ore? Follow a group and scavenge the dead bodies they leave behind for sellable loot. You slowly level up different skills that allow you to survive, skills in Katanas, martial arts, healing, cooking, crafting, etc, etc. You level by doing, want to get tougher? Get beat up. Want to get stronger? Carry heavy loads. You get the idea.

Where the game shines for me is building a small squad and adventuring, the nomad life. There is no fast travel (robo legs don't count haha) and there is stuff out there that just wants to kill you. In that world though are lots of cool places to see, and lots of people to kill, sell to slavers...just don't become a slave yourself. Yes, you can be put into slavery and you could consider it a free week at the gym. You will level up strength, sneaking, lock picking, and labor skills until you finally break out and hopefully outrun the guards. And that's what this game is, you are dropped into the world, and just about anything can happen. I freakin love it.

Now...basebulding. IE The Jankiest Jank of the Janky Game.
1. Walls sometimes work sometimes they are just pretty images that raiders walk right through.
2. Turrets are broken with guards starving to death trying to target an NPC out of site and un-shootable.
3. Crafting ques are broken/barely work. Much easier to setup a stove for each item as the AI cant figure out how to repeat multiple crafting orders without getting stuck.
4. EVERYTHING must be micro-managed and it put in a que list for each person. Can i tell my farmers to just grow wheat? Nope, each plot must be assigned individually, each storage bin assigned individually for hauling (no matter that the storage is specifically for that resource). If you are hoping for the streamlined production of RimWorld it isnt here. Not by a long shot. Since building a base I've never wanted to again.
5. Raids...these are fine. Annoying but you can turn the frequency of them up or down and increase the size. You can actually do this with most of the games systems including hunger, chance to die, dismemberment, etc.

TL:DR
Game is great, janky and buggy. I highly reccomdend it, its not for everyone and its finish/polish will drive away a lot of people. So many times i put my head in my hands and think "who thinks this is actually finished?" Im hopeful for the future of Kenshi, I hope the dev farms it out (since he isnt going to do it) to get the engine upgraded and robust modding tools so the game can realize it's true potential.

Gameplay - 9/10
Polish/Finish - 3/10

*mods - you need mods. Thanks to all the modders that have put in the time and work to help flesh out systems, factions, etc. You guys are awesome!

I got this game from Humble Bundle.
That said its not a bad FPS at all. Nothing ground breaking but a fun soild game. The shooting was fine, voice acting acceptable, and the story (especially now) was interesting enough to keep me engaged from start to finish. I didnt have any issues with performance, bugs, freezes, crashes, etc either.
Overall it's a soild product.

NOW THE BIG ISSUE:
Unless you really have money to burn dont bother with this game unless it is HEAVILY discounted or free. It took me only 4hours to complete the entire storyline of this game. 4 HOURS! So while yes, its fun, its certainly not worth paying anymore than $5 for IMO.

So yes, from a fun/gameplay/technical side I reccomend the game.
From a value/get your money's worth side I DO NOT reccomend this game.

While this game may have a great story I'll never find out. After 4 restarts Im over messing with the bugs in this game, and I never even got past the first part in Italy.

Pros:
  • downloaded quickly
  • decent intro video
Cons:
  • Infinite loading screen (restart to fix)
  • black screen (restart to fix)
  • mouse won't work in game (restart to fix...doesnt work)

While this game may be a straight trip to Funsville Im not driving down Sh!t Lane to get there hoping this game is completable in this buggy form. Sad because I really wanted to try and get into this series.

    End result?

13 hours in and I might as well be playing Uncharted. Other than the name there is nothing that's Castlevania here. Add in a horrible fixed camera that you have 0 control of and a goofy control layout I finally said enough after the Lycan boss.

Great game but lousy port.
Currently on Route B and I have had my fair share of frustrating crashes. With no auto save this can be brutal, like defeating the sea monster on Hard Difficulty and the game crashing, forcing the entire fight again.
Buy it for the story and combat but until its patched be ready for issues.

Edit: Almost a year later and SE and Platinum game have still not patched this broken game. Damn game wont even launch now. Thanks SE/Plat
