Quite a cozy game with a slithering dark vibe shortly into the game. Love the mechanics, it's the perfect game for after work. Simple and relaxing, yet a bit uncanny and dark.

The story is okayish. It's short and not too deep with some twists to it.

Overall the pacing of the game is very good. There's is a steady progression and you never feel like you have to grind much. On the other hand the progression accelerates too much at some point. After a while you get so much money and resources you can easily max out in just a few hours.

Overall a great game just a bit too short. With idle times I completed it 100% in just 16 hours. If you're fast, you can probably finish it in 10 hours.

I'd suggest getting it during a sale if your uncertain. If you want a nice little game, just get it and support the devs. I hope there might be a successor to it with a bit more depth and content, the idea itself has much potential.

How to be a modern game studio:

1. Let people pay a lot of money for a game
2. Implement Loot Boxes and collect **** tons of money
3. Make it free to catch more players
4. Yield a **** ton of bad reviews for ****** over the people who brought your game there in the first place by buying it

Not bad, but even for a demo it would have been nice to include a simple saving system. Had to quit before and playing the tutorials again just isn't fun knowing the game probably ends in one or two missions anyway.

Depending on the price, it's definetly worth to get when released. One of the lately better simulators (they really used to be trashy).

Simply put: THE best (jungle) survival game as of now. I was not prepared for what awaits you. I had no expectations and did not even notice that I was going on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Incredibly well told and interesting story.

The game itself is just amazing. Gameplay wise it's intense at first but once you got it, it's amazingly immersive and fun to play.

Absolutely recommended!

Do I recommend it? Shortly: Yes. Absolutely ******** yes.

The Dream Machine is one of the greatest Point'n'Click adventures I've ever seen and played. With a very well written and thought through storyline and it's purely unique style it's a masterpiece.

Though it's no horror game the story always has a slight dark feel which is very well mixed into it. The game quickly absorbs you and brings you into a world which I wish will be covered in another game of them.

The devs did a really great job there. It's a well polished game and the art style is amazing! Get it and you won't regret it!

Does not even run in 1920x1080 and fullscreen mode. Never got fixed obviously.
Connecting your Telltale account doesn't work either.

When even the most basic of functionalities don't work, I don't even see how this game can
be any good.

I know the game could still be great, but seriously. You don't pay 15 bucks for a relatively modern game which does not even run in fullscreen HD. Either play it windowed (which sucks) or 90s style 1024x768.

Well, this game could have become a great and fun game.
But actually it's a buggy, cheaply made and optimized game which becomes boring and tediously grindy after short playtime.

Besides that I still wanted to progress and unlock some of the major features like the Champion.
But instead, after I had to manually backup the savegame (yeah, not even Steam Cloud integrated ...) I went into the game and played 10 minutes until I realized that all game progress has been lost. Because obviously unlockable skills are saved like statistics in the registry which is hard to backup.

Long story short: Lost all, fed up with the grinding, uninstall.

The first time I play a game from the Resident Evil universe and I instantly fell in love. This game is truely what I specify to be a horror game. It's tense, dark, bitter but still has a slight taste of humor.

I can't recommend this game enough. Bought it and finished it in three days. Sadly the playtime really isn't that long, but the ~10 hours it took me felt longer than that. In the end you get sucked in by the story and just can't stop finding out what happened there.

I really love how they reuse certain places throughout the game and how things actually change. You often find yourself seeing something, leave the room, go back inside and it's gone. Things like that make the atmosphere so tense.

For my taste Normal was a bit too easy. In the beginning you're super careful, but after a while you know the game. It's really not that hard. Since there are lots of unlockables you can unlock under certain conditions when finishing the game - I will definetly revisit the Baker residence for another madhouse round. Probably even a third time. It definetly has replay value, especially since I haven't found all secrets which I would love to do. Moreover since you have to decide with which ending you want to go quite early on, it definetly has to be played at least twice. After a while you know, that the game adapts quite a lot. So I bet the endings are totally different depending on your choice.

Highly recommended!

I had to wrestle with three bears, grow my beard even longer, and hammered a nail into a plank with my bare hands just to feel manly enough again to continue my life.

This game is frikkin' intense. It's like pepperspray in your eyes. You just can't stop it.
Get it. It's one of the best games of all time! A masterpiece of it's genre and a milestone no AAA title ever has reached.

300/10.

TL;DR - Pro / Con
PRO
- Nice short story
- Interesting (but not really difficult and sometimes way too obvious) puzzles which work through ingame interaction (i.e. use hammer on an object lying around)
- Nice atmosphere

CON
- Relatively cheap graphics (which doesn't hurt the gameplay)
- The end is quite buggy - if you run backwards from the wall you just see him appear out of nothing and once the police arrives he vanishes into nothing. Could have been done way better!
- Since there aren't any characters beside the murdered woman, the only animated dude at the end looks like from a 90's game - could be a retextured robot as well)
- Too short (playthrough in less than 20min probably if you know your way)
- Too few and too easy puzzles

Review
It's a very short low budget game. You really can't expect much, but considering the circumstances it's good enough for a recommendation.

What can you say much about it. The story is quite nice. I was kinda astonished when I made it through the game, that the story would fit for such a short game. It's about you being an architect who was invited to a shell construction where you obviously should do the interior design or something. Things happen and you wake up there and need to get out.

It's not that much horror as you would expect, just a "horror story". The ending leaves enough cliff hanger for a potential sequel - which I hope will arrive sometime. With a bit more budget and polishing, a second part could become a really good horror game!

The gameplay itself is quite good. What I liked most were the interactive puzzles. You don't combine items in your inventory or stuff, but actually use them on other objects lying around. I.e. you can and have to actually use a jaw vice at the beginning.
