Well, don't have to say anymore about the bad port, nonetheless - unlike most obviously, it ran without a single crash, smooth like butter. Can't complain at all, had my fun playing it.

It is annoying though, that you have to edit the .ini config in order to get surround sound and visual enhancements, as well as to fix the mouse issue.

So 2K, would you KINDLY patch this mess?

Well what can I say, besides that it doesn't even work.
All I could try out so far was:

- Customization, which, after you've spent 10 minutes doing so, tells you that it's unavailable in the Free version. Nice to know after you customized your character.

- That it's a bad connection simulator, one among lots. Most of the time you see "Connection to host lost."

- If it does not lose connection, you'll just see "TOXIKK stopped working ..." and that's it.

Fun game, would definetly buy it. Not.

Matchmaking simulator 2021. Minimum 3 minutes wait time up to nearly 10 minutes in Duo. With an active player base AND CROSSPLAY of ~50k people. WTF.

It's a very short but nice game. I missed the depth a little, though.
The game actually has potential. A little more interactivity, a little more darkness and depth, a little more story and gameplay (not just use that, then use that, then use that and end) and it would be really good. And of course more stories.

I was kinda confused in the end when there were 4 more -whatever this was- portals (?) but the game just exited when entering one. I really hope the devs will bring some more stories in - obviously they intend that already.

I like horror games without jumpscares and enemies. Experiencing a truely horrific story is really nice. But this game left me cold. It was not scary nor anything else. You just walk in slowmotion around, read ~12 notes and have to go back to the main room all the time to enter a code for each door (which are really easy to figure out).

It's a nice try, but devs: Try harder. It's free-to-play and short, so it's definetly not bad. But it isn't good either.

I guess I really need jumpscares and enemies in order to actually feel the horror. Or there has not yet been a game that achieves a racing heart and some feelings without scaring the s*** out of you.

Had to change my initial review. Back when I made it, the game was unbelievable imbalanced and a torture to play. Barely any progress. Meanwhile this changed. Raged through 3 chapters (on easy though) and eventually died at the second DLC Boss.

Really fun to play, but can become a little bit boring. I'd really like to see more content that gets it's replay value up.

Early Access Review
20 Minutes, first safe hourse found. 4 wolves a a bit away. Out of resources, nearly no food. No weapon.
After a long sleep went out: 8 wolves around me, one bit me, instant death - died of blood loss and shock.

10/10 would do a instant-death again!

It's really difficult, but super fun to play and nice to once not have zombies pursuing your ace*.

Why isn't Steam banning this? That's a rip-off!
I mean, I love that game and played it often in my childhood, but it can't be that you pay for a game that is not running. If they release such a old game on Steam that late, then they should at least make sure it's running on current systems. It's surely not impossible to fix this game and maybe tweak it for higher resolutions.

Really, I'm disappointed Steam is supporting that rip-off. Not that anybody on behalf of the developers care that players pay for a game that is not running unless you've got < Windows XP - which is most likely not the case for anybody owning Steam.

I can't recommend this - no fix, no recommendation.

Notice!
It's difficult to say whether I can recommend this game or not. I'll give it a Yes because it's a really good game and has immersive gameplay. I could give a No because the combats partially really suck. Why this can be read below.
Please read the review, because I cannot recommend the game without restrictions! Forge your own opinion before buying!

Immersive Gameplay
The game itself has a average story which I don't count here, because for me it's not about the story but a good strategic game. And here it really gets it's points. You do not just fight aliens but you also spend a lot of time building up your HQ, building new facilities, crafting new equipment for your troops, deploying new satelites, do research and a lot more. It's very immersive and has a lot of stuff most strategy games of this kind don't have. A lot of plus points as this really is a fun thing and fits in well.

You have lots of stuff to do besides the fights. Strategy cannot just be found in combat but also in managing. You have a budget to manage and with it you have to distribute your monthly income well in order to fight the enemy.

Combats
The fun part should be the round-based combat. But it's not always much of a fun. Your troops have a wide variety of skills depending on their class. They level up as long as you don't let them to be killed in any mission. So you really have to think about your turns, as they get very easily killed. A few shots are enough. And here there's the great downside. Though you have lots of possibilites to take cover, those objects don't really take impact on hits. Enemies hit you very often and there it's absolutely not of interest whether your troops are totally covered by a wall or not. Bullets go through every wall. And so do grenades. You can throw them everywhere. Very unrealistic and this got a lot of my people killed, though they shouldn't have been in enemies field of fire.

Another great downside is the spawning of enemies. In one mission I had to take a VIP to the exit point. I killed all enemies and thought it was safe. I moved him to the next cover. The other guys had no more ammo and had to reload (which takes one turn). Because the VIP was the last to move in that one turn, it ended. A new enemy with 12 HP spawned 4 fields ahead and of course aimed for the VIP first. The first strike didn't kill him. At the same time another enemy spawned 10 fields left of him and went into "Overwatch" mode. I wanted to get the VIP back to cover where the other troops stood. The overwatch enemy took him out and the mission failed. Another one of my guys died because he hadn't ammunition and the overpowered enemy took him out with one single strike.
I don't mind fighting an overpowered enemy as last one of the mission (indeed it was the last enemy to fight), but they spawned so close I hadn't chance to do anything. Really bad. Another enemy in this mission spawned one field near one of mine. Luckily it was my turn then and I could kill it with a single shot. But the combats are partially really unrealistic and annoying. Could have been better, but we also have to take in consideration that this game is not the newest.

Moreover the combat looks quite static. Snipers mostly miss their targets and in general you just shoot until you hit and kill. Hit chance obviously depends just on your distance to the enemy, not even where he stands or at which angle you shoot. Damage is random and doesn't seem to be impacted by anything else. All in all, quite a boring system.

Conclusion
All in all I can recommend the game, at least while it is on sale. I wouldn't have bought it if it was at full price and I don't recommend to buy it for this price. It's not worth 20€ anymore. But I surely look forward for a second part or at least a game which is equally good.

The things around combats really tear it out else this game couldn't get a recommendation of mine.
