I'd definitely consider Grounded the best game in the Open World Crafting Survival Z genre, many mechanics this game has should be the gold standard every other game adopts in, like moving containers with the stuff still inside, or my favorite, completely free-form ziplines. Love building me a Zipline tower so I can later in the game just skip to any corner in the game quickly
The combat is a little bad, especially solo, and the game balance in general is way more aimed at multiple players, but still thoroughly enjoyed the game. Building is good, progression is fun and ladybug larvae can go to hell

An absolute masterpiece that took everything wrong with Yakuza 3 and told those flaws to kick rocks, and improved on everything. There is no more of that PS3-era control jank that some games had, there's no more enemies blocking every attack and there are no more insane money problems just from having to fix weapons.
Taiga Saejima is also a magnificent beast of a man

Easy 10/10 rating, so far my second favorite Yakuza game, only behind Yakuza Kiwami 2

This game made me realize I didn't just grow out of this game format, it's just that other games don't do it well enough

A very easy 10/10 from me, I get some mad dopamine when I send my tiger to kill someone, they come back from a successful job and I give them a steak as a reward

I feel like Yakuza 3 was only like *slightly* better than Kiwami 1, so it's hard to call it very good

Most of the time the combat is unbelievably infuriating and boring, but during bossfights it was fantastic for the most part
And you can definitely feel the PlayStation 3 quality, that good ol' 2008's-ish jank

The kinda game where I just start playing for a bit and notice I have 600 minutes on current session in the Steam Overlay

I spent 10 hours in one sitting yesterday turning Bretonnia undead and only noticed it at 2 AM

This review is going to be obsolete soon with the release of Total War Warhammer 3, and as most people know, you should just buy each of the games to get the full campaign for yourself in TW:WH3. It's going to be expensive but it's going to be worth it if you're into Warhammer, I mean at 460 hours and counting I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of this game

The game starts out decently fun, sneaking with a welrod is alright and sniping is fun for the first couple of ten kills, but as I went on I noticed so many annoying and awfully designed things that I ultimately ended up just hating the game

While sneaking, there is never a point to hiding bodies, because you can only hide bodies while walking which first of all makes you very visible but also lets out the same amount of noise as running, meaning you'll just most likely get spotted. Secondly it doesn't matter at all if enemies find a corpse. Nobody raises an alarm, warns others or anything, they just go to cautious state themselves, which means practically nothing

There is little point to masking your shots noise with generators or overpassing planes other than wanting to perfect stealth yourself, because even if you shoot someone from perfect silence, the enemies seek cover and your relocation meter fills halfway, which means nothing. If you shoot again, they know where you are, which is when they stay in cover, some might try to walk the most straight line towards you to find you. Now if you shoot the third time, people will start firing on you, which for the most part just made them easier to find for sniping. BUT, if you shoot only twice, and then move from your location, you get Relocated, which means enemies return to standby mode as if nothing ever happened, they won't come to your previous location, they won't hide, raise alarm, they will just return to duties as if it was any calm day. At this point you can start taking shots again and repeat the process

That also brings me to one good and bad side of the game which is mines, you'd think it'd be fun to cover your back with some trip mines and infantry mines, and it is, but it's pointless when the enemies barely ever walk into them, they just sit in cover, maybe some random one guy might walk into a trip mine and those have been some of the most fun things in the game for me. Wish there was more point to them but almost every time i mine the entrances to a sniper nest i just collect every single one of them back after i'm done shooting up the whole place because nobody even tried to get me

In the mid-to-later missions the game started to just spawn enemies behind me and in places i had cleared for the sake of having more enemies I suppose. They are clearly not randomly patrolling enemies, because they just appear immediately in a new objective somewhere in a past area, and they only roam around that specific small spot. The worst of this one was when the game just spawned a sniper on a ledge behind me immediately when i unlocked a new objective, which caused me to immediately get spotted and shot down. I reloaded, went to where I got sniped from and he wasn't anywhere to be seen, but it happened immediately again when I went for the objective. It's blatant and cheap.

Now what ultimately made me uninstall the game was when I realized how awfully the game's detection system is made. I was sneaking in a bunker but got noticed, my bad, sure, but when I was relocating, someone above the bunker threw a grenade on top of the bunker, I thought he was an idiot but turns out they managed to figure I threw the grenade, and from the explosion they figured out perfectly where I was walking, and they kept doing this so I couldn't relocate at all. Just because they kept throwing grenades and used them to echo locate me perfectly from above the bunker, when I was inside of the bunker

TL;DR: It could be so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good, but it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad

An absolute masterpiece of a game, the story might go a touch generic at points but makes up for it in presentation every time, and the combat might be a bit goofy sometimes with the ragdolls but the fluidity of it makes up for that every time. While it's half the length of Yakuza 0, it's all gold
My final addition to the review is going to be a bit of a spoiler
The end of Majima Saga even gives some amazing closure on the one thing left open from Yakuza 0

A real man oughta be a little stupid

I barely do anything in this game and it's more fun than most other games I've played

Something's terribly wrong with most other games

Edit: I just did everything in it, beaten everything and got 100% achievements after 1100 days, 14 hours, 10 minutes and 14 seconds
After three years, I can close this game down for good

Farewell friend

This is by far the most infurating game I have ever played, the combat is stiff, slow and unsatisfying, the speech system is basically throwing dice and hoping you got it and the saving system is the worst one ever invented. Whoever's responsible for saving being an expensive consumable should get slapped in the ankles

The combat is directional with five different directions to swing from, and you have to combo based on these directions, but it's extremely slow, feels super stiff and hitting an enemy with a sword has the visual and audio effects of hitting them with a styrofoam bat. It's everything but fun

In speech you supposedly have to see who you're talking to, and based on that try to pick the correct speech choice of either charisma, nobility or being a rude buff dude, but it never felt that way. I managed to persuade royal guards with a nobility level of 2, but i couldn't threaten a peasant with a strength level of 7

The game saves in key points of quests, like starting them, but if you want to save any other time besides exit saving you have to use these expensive and rare to find consumables called saviour schnapps, and since they're that way you of course don't want to spend them constantly, however this just caused me to lose over an hour of progress in a quest after i died to a bug where my character kept just tripping over the ground non-stop in combat. Think I went under the ground for a few seconds there too. This wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't lose a bunch of progress where I'd now have to repeat a lot of boring walking

If I have anything good to say about the game it's the dialogue and the characters, so far they've all been really fun. So basically the cutscenes in this game are the only good part for me. Guess I'll watch a movie of this game instead of actually playing it

TL;DR
Second worst game I've ever played and definitely the biggest disappointment of one I've ever experienced. Boring gameplay that punishes you for anything you do accompanied by the most awful saving system I've ever seen. I regret paying 10€ for this and I don't think I'll be able to put myself through even getting equal amount of hours out of it
