Received as part of the "Get your head in the game" bundle from HumbleBundle and honestly... I won't be playing this again. The tutorial feels really fun, explaining all of the mechanics and whatnot, and the mechanics themselves are done really well... but aside from an infinite run mode and an arena mode with objectives... there's nothing more to this game.
The campaign, which was originally supposed to come with this, has been thrown at an entirely new title which you will have to pay for again... despite already owning this one.

Do not buy this game and do not support the scummy developers.

Less than 30 hours into the game and the majority of it was spent building a nice place to call home. About 3-4 of that was actually spent exploring caves and places relating to the story. Which, speaking of story... there really isn't one.
This review does not contain spoilers.

Some cool things that I'd actually consider good are:
- The 3D printer. A cool addition that felt gimmicky at first but turned out to be a pretty solid tool, especially for the sled which is also fun as hell.
- The sled! Of course... What's more fun that yeeting yourself off the top of a cliff at break neck speeds only to take no fall damage and get launched across the map, seeing your friend go in the opposite direction. (RIP Dman...)
- Build mode is SO much more polished and fun to use than the original. You can build actual cabins now, not just prefabs. You can build whatever you want, as large as you want, however you want. Its great!
- Combat / Weapons have vastly improved with so many more weapon choices. In fact... too many weapon choices. The shotgun is the meta, though.
- Graphics are BEAUTIFUL. This game, especially during some of the more incliment weather looks PHENOMENAL.

Now, this game isn't without its faults. Some of those are:
- The ending is lacklustre and leaves much to be desired. As I said, I won't spoil anything, but there's no real ending to this game. Its open ended, not even in the form of a cliff hanger. Its boring and wasn't worth going for again.
- Some caves are just literally useless. No cool loot. No branching pathways. Nothing...
- If you want food, you'll be limited to a couple options. If you're a carnivore... sucks for you. Meat is pointless to hunt for, even early game, due to the mass amounts of cereal, canned food, MREs, granola, and more.
- Berries are pointless as are the majority of the flora. Other food options give you far more food and hydration and the berries are just there as a gimmick it seems.

There's also a few things that are just laughable in terms of glitches or bugs:
- Food has four states. Raw, Cooked, Dried, Rotten. If your food goes rotten, just cook it and boom, parasites be gone!
- Virginia just vanished about 3/4ths of the way through our playthrough, never to be seen again until the ending.
- Someitmes, animations and actions just break, completely. Getting shot and killed by a friend helps fix this tho.
- Some acheivements are broken and just wont register.

Oh also... Who the hell digs 1000 holes?...

There's a lot of other minor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but I'll leave those out. There's a lot to be desired in this game. It's definitely The Forest's bigger brother, which is great, but without an actual story, without many building options, without a lot of things...
This game feels unpolished and unfinished. I get it, its an Early Access title, but its been in development for over 3 years. This is not worth the $30 in its current state.
Let the game mature a bit more, let some more content come to it, and maybe, just maybe it'll be worthwhile to grab. As it stands... if you want a fun experience with The Forest, just snag a cheap copy from the penguin site and enjoy.

Primarily a game for those with no life or real responsibilities. You have to dedicate hours of your time, even on community servers with 2x and 3x the normal loot tables, just to make a base defensible enough that you can log off and have slight peace of mind. Even then... expect a notification on Rust+ (Yes, there is a mobile app to pair with the game) when you inevitably have someone blast down all 6 of your doors within a matter of minutes.

Further more... good luck trying to make friends. This game has an even worse situation when it comes to Bambi hunting than DayZ. You cannot even utter a word before you're shot dead on sight. Even better yet, if the person does let you get a word in, it usually ends with them being toxic, laughing in your face, then killing you anyways.

tl;dr: If you have time-based obligations... don't touch this game. Its not worth investing time in, and is full of no-life's with thousands of hours on the game who will be the most toxic people possible, no matter the situation. Its not fun. The grind is awful and this game certainly is NOT worth 35 quid.

Take Rainbow Six mix it with some ARMA 3, throw in some cops vs robbers, maybe a tenth of methamphetamine, and you've got Ready or Not!

I can get over this being early access, what I cannot get over is how its just a dumbed down version of Squad. I feel like Bohemia saw the success of Squad, and decided to take a lot of their mechanics, and add it to their own game.

As it stands. This is a tech demo. Nothing more. It barely feels like an Arma title, and the inventory is clearly tailored around console players in mind.

This is not Arma 4. This is barely even Arma. Do not purchase this game. It is not worth it.

Look, for what its worth, this is a good engine and is an awesome tech demo, but that's about it. There isn't really a whole lot of substance to BeamNG Drive. You crash around the default cars for a while, that's pretty fun, but after wards you may want to download custom content. Guess what... unless you use the official repo's, you won't get any working mods. The custom mods that are not on the official repos get marked as incompatible and/or outright break when you try to load them.

Besides a few hours of crashing up cars, there's not much else to this game. That might be good for some, but it was not for me. It just did not bring enough to the table to warrant paying $25.

I'd like to say I could play this game and enjoy it, but I simply can't.

Sure, the multiplayer is free, but that comes at a cost in its own way. This game crashes like no tomorrow. (tried on two different systems, one AMD, the other NVIDIA) Not only this, but the weapon balance in game is non existent. You can get hit three times with a pistol and drop dead whereas you can empty an entire 32-round mag into someone from a rifle, and they walk away just fine.

Simply put... It's bad. Its unbalanced, runs terribly, and just isn't fun.

Oh yeah, and the campaign is $60... Not the full game... Just the campaign.

110% worth it. Between the amazing development that has gone into this game and its engine, and the entire modding community, you'll be able to replay this game over and over and over, especially in sandbox. Plenty of maps and challenges to choose from, some are a bit more difficult than others, but overall not a terrible challenge.

Be warned, you have to have a pretty solid PC for this.
Ran okay on my Ryz. 7 1700 with Vega64
Ran better on my i7-10875 with RTX 2070

If you've got the specs, and you're looking for a fun voxel sandbox, this is the way to go! Feels great, looks pretty good, plays amazingly well, so many tools and weapons to choose from, and the mods / workshop content are phenomenal.

Buy it! You'll love it.

Update: As of 04-03-2022, I decided to come back to this game and it has so much more content! Tonnes of new sandbox maps and toys to play with. Seriously, if you don't have this game, buy it! It's totally worth it!
