Classic adventure gameplay wrapped in sci-fi/horror tropes and a rad Stranger Things vibe. Short and doesn't overstay its welcome. Try it out if you're looking for something more avante guarde.

This is one of the best competitive games two people can play against each other. It is an amazing feeling fooling your friends or catching them when they're caught. If this seems like something that would appeal to you, I can heartily recommend the game.

I would love to give it a positive recommendation, because the gameplay is deep and satisfying enough to merit a lot of play. Sadly, the price keeps me from recommending it -- not only does it limit the number of people you can play with in matchmaking, but it also makes it exceedingly difficult to get your friends to take the plunge. There needs to be some kind of system in place that allows folks to play with friends who don't yet own the game (especially if the devs insist on keeping the price as high as it is).

Edit: Seeing as how reviews are highly polarized, I want to mention something important: Despite procedural world generation being a centerpiece of the game's design, this game is NOT a roguelike. People comparing it to roguelikes are morons and you can probably safely discount their reviews -- that is unless you're looking for a roguelike. To be absolutely clear, while this game shares some superficial similarities to games like Rogue Legacy and Dead Cells, the long-form gameplay is very different and involves actual exploration, backtracking, proper observation and (very light) puzzle solving to advance -- much more akin to a Dark Souls or Metroid game than any roguelike. The reviews on this game definitively prove most Steam reviewers don't have a clue what they're talking about.

As one of the original Kickstarter backers, I can say with confidence that I got precisely the retro-throwback metroidvania I've been waiting for. Great music, a wide variety of weapons and equipment, tons of different enemies, bosses and minibosses and oodles of neat things to find deep in the chasm. Plus you're promised that every playthrough will be different. It's not perfect -- the equipment options could use to be better balanced (hint to dev: nerf magic knives/shuruken, buff melee gear). It's one of the finest metroidvania games to come out this year -- and we haven't even gotten Bloodstained yet. Whether you're a fan of the genre of metroidvania games or a newcomer, you'll find lots to love here.

Highly recommended.

Is a really neat project. But at the end of the day, what I wanted to do with it the game probably won't support.

The game needs some sort of official code bundler that can reliably generate code using commonly available module formats (UMD, common js, ES6, etc). Without such a tool, anyone who wants to write code that uses external modules is at the mercy of third party bundling tools that may or may not work.

Sadly, my experience spending a couple of days with the Typescript bundler turned up a variety of problems with simple modules and a dearth of expertise among the community on why the tools inexplicably don't work. My advice is to avoid the game until better tooling is available, either from the community or from the developers.

That said, if you can tolerate the somewhat limited coding environment, I'm sure you'd like it. Until I can somehow surmount the issues I'm seeing, is a thumbs down for me. That said, I'll continue to tinker with it and update this review as needed.

I had serious issues with general bugs and glitchiness throughout the tutorial content and lessons. But at the end of the day, succeeds at what it wants to be. It's got a metric ***kload maps and missions for both multi and single player. It's a gun-bro's promised land. It's the Planet Coaster of military sims. Plus it has built in mod support. And it also happens to be a pretty decent game -- but only at a certain price.

My advice is to do like I did and wait for a sale, because there's no way I'd have forked over $70 for the fully priced Apex Edition -- there simply isn't enough polish here for that much dough. I got it for 25 USD with most of the DLC content, so I got my money's worth. But at 66% off, the Apex edition was an absolute steal. Too bad I couldn't have gotten more of my friends to take the dive on it...

Move over Rollercoaster Tycoon: Frontier is here to knock you on you butt.

FYI: Performance severely lags at higher park sizes/pops, so if you plan on building a ginormous giga-park, make sure you have an 8 core processor and a f**kload of RAM.
