The story and romance is barely here. Nothing scary or haunting (I've seen people comparing it to DDLC and it's not even close), the style of writing is okay-ish and completely neutral so it doesn't add anything to immersion and atmosphere. I liked the artstyle and music was decent, but characters don't have many sprites and there are two or three unique illustrations and oh, I wish that would be the only problem with this game. There are short VNs out there that could shake you to your core, but 'Amelie' isn't one of them. Spend your ~2 hours on something else.

Nice first project for a little studio, loved environments design. Gameplay - not so much, though beating the game without shell is something. I'd recommend If you interested in something more fluid than DS, but don't get your hopes up, it's fairly short.

I was hyped when I found out that full game came out, decided to try prologue to be 100% sure I'm buying it... That was a mistake. My main problem is VAs. They don't match most of the characters (both Eng and Rus versions) and the quality of acting is subpar.

Subtitles in Eng often are more informative than subtitles in Rus, yet they lack the emotional coloring of Rus version greatly. Cutscenes are flowing with english narrator while russian narrator makes long pause between each set of sentences.

Also 3D sequences... they're killing all the vibe. 2D here is gorgeous, however. Wish they'd gone all the way with it.

Despite being more streamlined than original trilogy it's still a good game. And all the planets, the Nomad! Ooof, last time I felt the same rush and excitement about exploring the galaxy I was sitting in Mako on a random planet, it was 2009 and I had just received ME1 as a gift on b-day.

The game looks great and when your team clicks together the experience is truly something, I don't think I'll ever forget my first 20 mins at Omaha beach when my commander and I had to fight for every meter of the ground just to delta from this cursed beach.

So, the gameplay is PTSD-inducingly great and out of the way. Why the negative review then?

The main reason why I decided against buying HLL is optimization. This thing in HLL is almost non-existent. There is one particularly annoying problem when you get ½ of the frame every 10 seconds or so, no matter how powerful your rig is. I tested the game on 2 configurations and was able to fix fps and stuttering only on one of them via tinkering with launch options and moving the game from older SSD to newer and faster SSD. But it's pretty much a temporary fix because new big update is coming and according to vet players every big update tends to mess up the game in unimaginable ways. I really hope that after this update or a couple of others the devs will shift their focus from content filling to optimization. Until then I'll just stick to following HLL's development course.
