Marvel Vs Capcom 2. Street Fighter III Third Strike. Super Smash Bros. Melee. Half Life. All four of these things are software that people hold dear and wish to not let go, despite how "archaic" and "obsolete" they may be. These games came from the early 2000s and late 1990s. A time where things were archaic, especially one of the latest and scariest things. The internet. Team17 at the time were creating Worms, a game that involved physics turn based combat. It wasn't until a nuke would drop that it would bring the one thing Worms needed...


Honest to god, I don't want to review this game. Worms Armageddon is a masterpiece that cannot be topped. At the same time I'd love to gush about a childhood favorite franchise. But, let's just cut it short.

Worms Armageddon is a multiplayer focused turnbased strategy game. You control worms on a cycle and shoot enemy worms. Sounds simple, until you see a bunch of weapons at your disposal, and it isn't just "shooting" because now you've got your choice of sheep that explode, grenades, mines, a skunk that makes worms sick with its gas, and a pneumatic drill. The terrain can be destroyed, so it can be used for a defensive advantage. Similar to the games above I mentioned, while the game is very pick up and play, the learning curve and skill ceiling goes way up.

Wanna play online? Change some video options? Well, guess what? This is where that archaic part comes in. The menus are VERY TINY thanks to this being a game from before 480i was a thing. And the online features require something called WormNAT from a WormKit Module (If you have no idea what I mean, check this link out: https://worms2d.info/WormKit ) Thankfully the game can be easily tooled with to make the gameplay run with 1080p or more* in mind.

Overall, Worms Armageddon is THE classic. No other Worms game has come close to Armageddon's popularity. You'd be doing yourself a disservice to not pick this up.

*I'm not sure on this but it does go up to 1080
