Cheesy 2D action fun. If you like games like Contra or Green Beret/Rush N Attack you'll enjoy this mad one-man-army team of crack squad 80s/90s action heroes then you will certainly enjoy this game. Has a good roster of characters and interesting upgrades. The multiplayer/co-op makes it great if you can get friends locally. Decent online play as well. Well worth a few pounds or dollars.

Great spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper. War for the Overworld has a friendly multiplayer community and a huge amount of content in terms of the story campaign, various monsters and other customisation options. Runs welll on my PC and the loading times are pretty quick. Very decent game in it's own right whether you know Dugeon Keeper or not.

Early Access Review
Very different to most zombie games, this is an isometric game with a heavy emphasis on 2D art assets and survival tactics. You have to manage your hunger, sleep, equipment, skills and most importantly, you have to avoid the walking dead horde outside. You can barricade windows, craft equipment and cook food. There is a huge modding scene for this game and there are some story-based campaigns as well. Has come along way since the early Alpha stages of development. If you're looking for a different zombie experience this might be up your alley.

Yes, it's a match three game but by jove, it's the best match three game out there. Tons of modes, unlockables, great graphics, nice audio. What's not to love?

A real treat for gamers of all kinds. Whether you know The Witcher or not, if you like sandbox games and action RPGs you will really enjoy this. There are a lot of stats and weapon/equipment combinations so in terms of inventory management it becomes more like a classic RPG. Has a distinctive European feel and truly sets the bar high for future games from Europe. Very popular and with good reason, definitely one of my top 10 games of the decade.

About 60 hours in and having boxed off the story I feel it's a good time to give you my thoughts. This game has strong ties to the previous game in the series Shadow of Mordor but is it's own stand-alone game. There's a small bonus for having beaten the first game and then running the Nemesis Forge but beyond that there is no connection. I played this with the 360/XONE pad and it worked just fine. I didn't have any problems navigating menus/world maps, moving around the world or taking part in combat.

The battle mechanics are somewhat repetitive but they get the job done. If you think along the same lines as Assassin's Creed and Batman Arkham City the combat is very similar to those games. There is a lot of variety in the orc captains. Some are funny, some are evil and some are just plain weird. Captains develop immunities as they level up (max level 65) and they can become pretty fierce and intimidating. Luckily for you, you have a great tool available to you... Celebrimbor's Ring! With the ring you can dominate orcs to make them fight for your army. Be careful though, if you annoy them too much or put them against their Blood Brother they can betray you and suddenly your 1v1 captain fight went to 2v0, and you are the one on your own. I had a great story with an orc called Ghash who was my bodyguard for a while and even saved my life once, sadly he was killed in a later mission and that shocked me since I had built an attachment to him over the course of a few missions. These kind of emergent stories happen a lot during this game and really are totally random.

Instead of the runes you got in the last game, this time when you kill an enemy captain they drop one of 6 types of equipment which can be worn and will change your character's appearance. You can't actually get different types of weapons but there is a ranged hammer to contrast with the ranged bow. You get better equipment by either hunting for better loot or upgrading your existing ones by completing challenges.

There are new beasts to tame, notably the Drakes which you can weaken and then shadow mount in order to fly around the map. There are 5 regions with 4 forts which you can capture and defend. There is an online fortress assault mode where you can invade other player's worlds for a chance at reward chests. There are also online vendetta missions where you can avenge another player's death and get cool loot.

The fortress assaults happen throughout the story and are nice bookends for each particular chapter. In each fortress assault you will want to weaken the warchiefs, strengthen your army and then mount your strategy where you will take your forces to the enemy. Finally you will face a strong overlord and then go into a battle for supremacy. After which you will either fail and have to try again or you will take over the fort and promote an orc to be the new overlord. You can lose forts during story mode and you will probably have trouble defending some in the Shadow Wars endgame.

I thought the story was interesting in parts but some of it did feel like too much filler compared to what was going on during the first act of the game. The collectables were in interesting places and provide lore on the world but are somewhat tedious to pick up by the end. I don't feel the game is too much of a grind at the end in terms of level/loot and I never spent any money on the loot chests. I will most likely buy the two new tribes DLC and replay the story to see which orcs I face on my second playthrough.

I definitely think this is my favourite game of 2017 and it does have a lot of potential provided you aren't bored by the combat or the story missions. It's worth it alone to dip into the nemesis system and just see how insane things can get.

If you want rootin-tootin gunslinging then you can't get much better than this. Shoot bad guys, level up, hear tall tales (not all of them are true!) and have fun in this frantic western-themed game. As with all historic games your mileage depends on how much you like the genre. If you're a fan of Clint Eastwood or spurs on your boots then mosey on down!

Brilliant slo-mo shoot em up. One of the best FPS experiences I've had in years. The fact that time slows when you don't move allows you to carefully plan your next move. Want to throw a bottle at at enemy to stun him, grab his gun and shoot him and his friend with it, before throwing the gun at another guy? You can do that and more! Your imagination and gunplay make this the most unique singleplayer FPS ever!

After the sheer barrage of modern FPS games, it's nice to find one that decides to go it's own path. Campaign mode does a great job at capturing that classic Doom feel in terms of monster spawns and giving the player free reign to traverse across the map. The variety of monsters is fantastic and they've stayed true to the original monster lineup that made the original games so popular. The bosses are out of this world and are very good at sucking you into the experience. The graphics are incredible and the monster design is creative. I'm glad they didn't go overboard with the darkness like other games, I like being able to see! Multiplayer is alright and reminds me of games like Unreal Tournament. Singleplayer is definitely however where it's at. Absolutely a recommended game, one of the best FPS games to date.

Armello is a compelling turn-based board game with a variety of different ways to win. There are always 3 opponents (human or AI controlled) along with a variety of NPCs that hinder or help your progress. Being tasked with returning the kingdom to normal, you can choose to defeat the king in combat, become more corrupt than him by being tainted by the 'rot', gather 4 spirit stones to banish him or become the prestige leader and keep the king alive. The different heroes you play as all have their own talents and skills. Each clan has their own rings and coupled with the trinkets and artifacts you uncover during the game you can have a wildly varied hand. At first it seems easy but there are many things out to get you. You have to face perils, survive enemy players and mobs and get close enough to the king to stop him. I love the aesthetics of this game, it certainly feels and sounds like a fantasy adventure you'd want to be a part of. The animal motif fits the theme and the range of cards and effects makes this a deeply complex game. Definitely one of the best board games on Steam.
