The skin on the default marine has been changed to look similar to Half Life's H.E.V. Suit.

Because any HEV suit is better than the armor they have in the TSF. Seriously, Freeman survives... everything. And without a helmet.

This is intriguing, it gives off the feel that the Marines and their ilk aren't a military organization.
And it's a feel I like.
