Description
What this mod does (brief)
Increased combat effectiveness of the SPARK class by adding a starting ability and stat upgrades through proving grounds projects.

More specifically
  • All rookie SPARKs now gain a buffed Hail of Bullets ability. Guaranteed chance to hit enemies but requires 2 ammo and has a 4 turn cooldown. This ability also allows critical hits.
  • There are 6 proving grounds projects added which provide various stat bonuses to SPARKs only.
  • The Weapons Upgrade proving grounds project increases SPARK primary weapon damage by 1
  • The Heavy Plating proving grounds project increases SPARK armor by 1. Costs 100 supplies and 14 days (with no engineer).

Why use this mod?
There could be many reasons and I leave it up to the players to decide.

For me personally it makes Legend Ironman playthroughs slightly less punishingly difficult and more of a fair challenge. Better SPARKs are very useful for being a consistently deployed force (even injured) for tactical missions. SPARKs are also well suited for higher effectiveness in smaller numbers.

Known Issues
  • The stats shown for SPARKs outside of missions (eg in Armory) will incorrectly show what their stats would be if all the proving grounds projects were completed. I have tested and confirmed that none of the proving grounds projects actually apply their effect until they are completed. This is a minor UI issue that I don't know how to fix.

  • This mod will conflict with others that try to change the SPARKs promotion ability tree.

Potential Issues
These are things I haven't tested but suspect will happen.
  • The custom proving grounds projects won't appear if the Lost Towers story mission is enabled. This is because I made them rely on the Mechanized Warfare project.

The mod no longer works, for some reason the game now has an error loading it. Any chance you could figure out what happened?

Soooo, to make it depend on the finished Lost Towers mission do we just replace Mechanizedwarfare with the tech "buildspark"???? In the files that need it?

looks like a nice mod but i have a lil problem ...
The custom proving grounds projects won't appear and i have finish the lost tower mission ...

maybe its a mod conflic
i have like 20mods runing at same time and every things is fine but not this mod ...
ive read in your (description) : (((This mod will conflict with others that try to change the SPARKs promotion ability tree ))) sooo i guess is the mod (why not both) making this issue ...
its sad cuz this mod look nice for the spark

Thanks for the offer about paying but I'm not interested and I refuse. I've lost interest in playing and modding XCOM 2 for the time being because I'm enjoying other games much more and I prefer to spend my free time on other activities. I'm getting old, tired, and impatient :P .

I wish you all the best with finding someone who can create your mod though.

@Tee Good afternoon. Please tell me, can you make a mod for "Xcom2" to reduce the time of construction of Sparks? I really want that spark was built in 1 day.

Thank you for your wonderful fashion on "SPARKs".
I also like robots very much but they are built for a very long time....
