M41A Pulse Rifle

Description
Adds the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens to the game. It's craftable at the Replicator for 5 durasteel bars, 2 copper bars and a small battery. It has a high rate of fire and good damage for its tier, though its energy cost is moderate - watch your ammo count or it'll be game over, man. Its secondary fire, of course, is a grenade launcher so you can feel like a true colonial marine.

I was completely taken by surprise by the fact there's no pulse rifle mods on the workshop, so I felt it was my duty to remedy that. I know that beta Starbound had pulse rifles that spawned into the game, but I suppose they were removed (along with most USCM content) to avoid copyright infringement. I might re-add randomly generated pulse rifles with custom art if people enjoy this mod. Hopefully you'll have just as much fun playing with it as I did making it. Have fun with the new weapon and stay frosty!

damn after i found this mod i installed it loved it and started looking for a smartgun mod sad to say there is none

Is it possible to somehow upgrade this weapon to increase the damage? Maybe there is some additional mod for this mod, to improve the characteristics of weapons or something like that?

@Turev Of Astora Absolutely, ships/bases etc. should be easy to make, maybe an underground Xenomorph Hive as a minibiome/structure.I could really see that function in Starbound

I'm still taken by surprise there's no Aliens Overhaul that brings in BioNat, W-Y, UPP, OCP, and Xenomorphs. Like damn, this game could easily setup a badass framework for that.

The reason the gun has the firerate that it does is because of the way that Starbound calculates damage per second. If I were to double the fire rate, it would keep the same DPS, making each individual shot pitifully weak unless I also increased the damage, which I didn't want to do as I felt the gun was already strong enough. Regardless of the reason for my choice, I've long since stopped support for this mod and don't have the time to update it. I appreciate your feedback, however!

Ok, I'm probally not the first to say this, I'm sorry but it seriously bothers me how the firerate is incorrect. It should fire about twice as fast. Due to this it sounds "off". I love your mod... but please fix this!

Glad you like the weapon! Like I said below, I've kind of been out of the Starbound modding scene for some time. I might come back and make some more weapons when I feel motivated again, but it may be some time until that happens. Maybe when the next update rolls around.

I love the weapon. Was wondering if you could make a higher tier version? This one kinda becomes obsolete when you reach Frozen Stars.
Other weapons would be awesome too, like the Flamethrower, Marine pistols, the revolver from Alien Isolation, or of course the Smartgun
