This is an edit of Psychomorph's psymod, if you haven't seen it before, you should check it out, you might like it more than this! You can find it here. This was uploaded with permission.

VANILLA OPTICS VERSION

This does stuff to your viewmodel positions, that's it. Look at the pictures and if you're still interested look at the stuff below to get it set up right. There's a slim chance that I'll upload a video before the universe ends.

This is parallax-free, so if your models for the AR variants have fixed front sights that don't disappear when you mount a red dot, the dot will be behind the front sight.

lazyass copy/paste of important stuff from psymod description:

Recommendation how to use:
I recommend using the console value "CL_ADS_WEAPON_FOV_SCALE 1.3" to have a full effect with the new sight offsets, as intended by this mod.

Available console values for "cl_ads_weapon_fov_scale":
0 = default, sights very close
1 - 1.3 = custom settings for sights being drawn further away (any value inbetween works)

Available console values for "cl_ads_fov_scale":
0 - 1 = 0 has no aim zoom, 1 is the max setting for aim zoom (any value inbetween works)

=========================================================================
Have specific, minute complaints? Fu ck you I'm not updating this, do it yourself.

Note: If you upload a modded version of this to the workshop, definitely credit Psychomorph, and I'd appreciate it if you say you used my edit as a base.

1) Download and install/extract GCFScape.
2) Navigate to [Steam]/steamapps/workshop/content/222880/1114035913 [For me this folder is this mod]
3) Open my .vpk, extract the scripts folder to [Steam]/steamapps/common/insurgency2/insurgency/custom/[new folder with name of your choice]

There you go, you've got my mod installed outside of the workshop. I'd recommend a program for coding for modifying the files. I use Notepad++ because I'm basic. If you don't use a coding program, you'll have to change the extension to a .txt then edit, save, then change it back to .theater every time you make a change. You don't want these extra steps because the alternative is pressing ctrl+s. You have to close and reopen the game to apply changes as far as I know. Oh yeah and you might as well delete all the desktop.ini files, those are only in there because I'm retar ded. [holy ♥♥♥♥♥ that word gets censored lel]

All of what I remember editing:
In default_weapon.theater

"fov_wpn_default"
"fov_wpn_ironsight"
"fov_wpn_focus"

"VMOffsetStand"
"VMOffsetCrouch"
"VMOffsetProne"

In default_weapon_upgrades.theater

"fov_wpn_ironsight"
"fov_wpn_focus"

and maybe:

"optic_paralax_distance"
"optic_reticle_size"

Everything else should be as Psychmorph left it.
Basically all of these variables are on a per-weapon basis, so hopefully you aren't planning on changing a sh itload. This probably took at least 20 hours of work with small tweaks and rebooting the game. Offsets for me where simple and all I recommend changing. They probably took 30 minutes. FOVs were where the time was at, with all optics and the goal of having no viewmodel zoom effect when you focus.

If you're going to redo everything like I did, I STRONGLY recommend making an autoexec with a map command.

1) Navigate common/insurgency2/insurgency/cfg
2) make a .txt
3) rename to "autoexec"
4) open and type "map buhriz"
5) ctrl+s
6) change extension to .cfg

now when you launch ins it'll load buhriz to a local server immediately after the initial load

vapidscum, thanks for your reply! I have managed to do it. Since I am new to game development, I fell sorry to cause you any troubles. Thank you for your candid concern and generosity!

Which effect do you mean? The offsets or the no zoom on focus? All of it was trial and error tweaking. Restarting the game every time a tweak was made. Shit took like a day and a half and I was a NEET when I made this. Anyway, I assume you mean the whole thing in general. I pushed the vmods Z offsets pretty far forward, adjusted the X and Y to my liking, then spent too long getting the FOVs perfect. Sounds like you want the viewmodels to take up less screen real estate, especially when aiming. Pushing the viewmodel's Z offsets more forward would be the easiest. But the best thing to do would be to mess with the FOVs. Additionally, sorry I took two days to get back to you, I rarely touch steam as of late, and I assumed it was an item. I hate leaving people hanging. Oh, and I dunno what's up with the "Unknown version" thing. All I can say is make sure GCFScape is up to date or try to find old or different versions of it.

Dude, it is just amazing. But I have a question: what did you revise to realize this effect? In terms of FOV, I think https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1661323148&searchtext=fov is better in one aspect because weapons remain small even while aiming. I have tried to revise some parameters in the .vpk files but it keeps raising error like 'unknow version XXXXX for vpk'. I hope you can help me if you are free. Thanks a lot!

in 2 words what you can not do with this?

well i'll still use this mod, just won't use the scopes. The rest of the mod is golden

Yeah, I haven't been playing Insurgency much in the last couple months, but the times I have recently made me consider changing the scopes, a few minor tweaks, and updating. However, doing just the scopes was probably half the time I spent making this, and it took quite a while. I'll have to change 2 or 3 values for each scope, for each gun it can be mounted on, and restart the game every time I want to apply a change. It's a task most people would want to proctrastinate.

I see that most people have complained about this too, the scopes are very annoying with being so close they are barely usable, and you have said, go find a different mod. Problem is, no other mod does it quite like you do, and no other mod checks most of my boxes like yours

idk what you've got installed, could be a remodel with lazy ass anims where the model rotates to point down and bobs, instead of actually making real anims. Anyway, I'm not too sure exactly what you mean/want. I assume you mean you can see through the viewmodel's arm. Changing remodels could work; if it's vanilla or you want to keep what you have you'll have to modify this yourself. I'd either reduce the non-ironsight fov or change the rearward offset. I'll write some hopefully foolproof instructions on how to mod this since I don't foresee updating this and people have complaints.
